Based on the Nordex N90, we have developed an offshore variant for use at sea.
The principal differences to the N90 onshore machine are
- facilities for corrosion protection and dehumidification
- metal cladding and redesign of the machine housing
- integration of the transformer and the frequency converter from the foot of the system to the nacelle
- redundant and automatic cooling system
- technical facilities for service at sea.
Locating wind power plants offshore has become more common, particularly in Northern Europe. It requires expertise and experience to carry out the work under the harsh conditions at sea in a safe and reliable manner.
Our first offshore wind turbines were installed in 1995, which means we are more familiar than anyone else with:
The challenges related to constructing wind power plants at sea
