What is Particle Image Velocimetry
Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) is a non-intrusive laser optical measurement technique for research and diagnostics into flow, turbulence, microfluidics, spray atomisation and combustion processes.
Application areas for PIV include:
Wind tunnel velocity experiments for testing aerodynamics of e.g. cars, train, aircrafts, buildings and other objects/structures.
Velocity measurements in water flows (e.g. research in general hydrodynamics, ship hull design, rotating machinery, pipe flows, channel flow etc.).
Spray research where there is a need to measure droplet velocities, cone angles, penetration length etc.
Environmental research (combustion research, wave dynamics, coastal engineering, tidal modelling, river hydrology etc.).
Experimental verification of CFD models

The QPM Family
Gentec-EO’s QPM Series is a fully automatic laser power probe that calculates laser power by measuring temperature dynamics using a microprocessor. Its measurement and acquisition technique determines the time needed to carry out a measurement. Data acquisition is triggered and stopped by detecting set heat parameter thresholds. This technique is virtually error free and allows for multiple measurements without absorber forced cooling.
Power Range
Six models cover the full-scale powers from 500 mW to 10 kW. Their innovative measurement concept cuts the time to measure and display down to ten seconds on all probe models providing:
# Excellent accuracy (± 3 to 4%)
# Repeatability (± 1 to 2%)
# High resolution

CA-100Plus has higher speed, higher performance, and lower cost than its predecessor, the CA-100, which has been a standard of the CRT manufacturing industry since 1990.
Engineered for both bench top and production floor use, and fully compatible with data from the earlier CA-100 model, the new Minolta CA-100Plus CRT Color Analyzer provides higher speed (maximum 20 times/second), as well as Luminance and Chromaticity measurements with a new low luminance capability to 0.05cd/m2, making it suitable for measurement of gamma characteristic and contrast adjustment. The CA-100Plus is equipped with 100 memory channels. Up to 5 sensing probes can be used for simultaneous multiple point measurement. A USB interface connects the CA-100Plus to a computer, and the NEW Software Development Kit makes it easy to use Visual Basic or Visual C to automate measurement and adjustment factors.

The latest generation of Konica Minolta lux meters, the T-10, replaces the globally successful models of the T-1 series. The small, easy-to-use handheld meters are capable of measuring intermittent light sources, can be connected to each other to form multi-point units, and are easily controlled with a PC. They have an extremely large measuring range of 0.01 to 299,000 1x with automatic range switching, and a large, backlight LCD. And all of that with Konica Minolta's renowned high level of precision in a small, compact design.
Areas of application
Konica Minolta lux meters are used whenever brightness and the quantity of ambient light must be measured. Even the measurement of average values and illumination is possible. Examples of their use include the measurement of workplace and street illumination, the production of lamps, as well as architectural, forestry, and agricultural applications. Deployment in hard-to-reach spaces and under water are possible, just as the metering of very large surfaces and projectors (ANSI lumens) by serial connection of several receptor heads. Metered values can also be visualized graphically and even fully automated by using the PC software.

The spot luminance meters LS-100 and LS-110, categorized in the upper range of the DIN quality class B, are among the best hand meters on the market. The SLR (single lens reflex) optical system allows precise targeting and ensures the viewfinder showing the exact area to be measured, even at very short distances. This makes even precise focussing very easy. In addition to the measurement field and the measurement environment, the viewfinder also shows the measured luminance value. The pistol grip makes handling of the unit very secure. We paid special attention to minimize flare and to give precise V(lambda) correlation (CIE relative photopic luminosity curve). With the help of a close-up lens, areas as small as 0.4mm diameter can be measured.
Areas of application
Light sources of all types can be measured with the LS, for example signal, traffic lights, airport lighting, lamps, LEDs, picture tubes, etc., simply anything that emits light. Now you can, for example, guarantee minimum brightness, exchange lamps that are too dark, create quality assurance in the production of lamps, or check indirectly illuminated objects like movie screens.
