The IS-120 series comprises optoelectronic sensors for use as light sensors (energetic or with background suppression) or as reflection light barriers. Light transmitter and receiver are both mounted in the same housing. The emitting diode emits radiation with a wavelength of 660 nm with red-light switches or. 880 nm with infrared switches. When hitting the detected object the pulsed light is reflected diffusely and partially impinges on the receiver. With energetic sensors the received energy is evaluated whereby the possible sensing distance is dependent on the colour/reflection characteristics and dimension/design of the object. By using sensors with background suppression the angle of incidence is evaluated and thus the sensing distance is to a great extent independent of the object’s characteristics. For example, these sensors are applicable to detect objects in front of bright or strongly reflecting surfaces.

The compact laser distance sensors provide a precise output signal which is proportional to the measured distance. The optical principle is based on triangulation.
Through beam sensors
Emitter and receiver are in two separate housings facing each other. Through beam sensors offer the largest sensing ranges.
Sensitivity adjustment (photoelectric sensors)
The sensing distance (Sn) of the capacitive sensor may be adjusted by means of a inbuilt potentiometer.
Copy counter (SCATEC)
Laser copy counters are primarily developed for non-contact counting of printed matter in a lap stream. Basically a SCATEC responds to an edge passing through the laser beam with an output pulse.

These new Contrinex sensors are characterized by their remarkably small size, 4 mm smooth or M5, with a housing length of 35 mm. Protruding by 1.8 mm, the spherical sapphire lens projects a cylindrical light beam with a diameter < 4 mm, permitting recessed mounting. Despite their small size, they are fully self-contained, thus making an additional evaluation device superfluous. As a result, the sensors are less costly and easier to install than optical fibers with amplifiers. In addition, they replace larger switches where mounting space is limited. The devices are short-circuit proof and operate in a voltage range of 10 ... 30 VDC, and with an output current of up to 100 mA. They are moreover fully vacuum potted and, as a result, largely insensitive to environmental influences (degree of protection Ip 67).

The photoelectric proximity switches combine transmitter and receiver in one housing. The light emitted by the transmitter is reflected by the target object. The receiver evaluates this reflected light. The advantage of this method is that no reflector is required.
As the proximity switch evaluates the reflected light and its energy, the scanning range of conventional sensors (also called energetic optical sensors) depends to a great extent on the colour of the target object and on its surface.
Because of the bad reflection properties of dark materials, the sensing distances of energetic sensors are reduced on those surfaces. The type of reflection depends on the structure of the surface.
Proximity switches, which are based on energetic evaluation, are ideally suited to the detection of larger objects or of objects whose colour and surface structure are constant.
A further field of application for energetic switches is the evaluation of the different reflectance properties of different colours. For example, energetic switches are capable of detecting a grey mark in front of a white background. The different reflectance behaviour of different colours is purposely exploited during this process. The different sizes of light spots should be observed for the detection of contrast marks. The smallest light spot is achieved with the energetic laser contrast sensor FT 20 RL.

The SpaceMaster series consists of a wide selection of self-contained photoelectric sensors all housed in cylindrical (tubular) housings of different dimensions. These include industry standard 10, M12, M18 and snap-in 12.7 mm cylindrical housings which are all available with either a cable or plug connection. The series offers a selection of operation modes, which include thru beam (separate transmitter and receiver), diffuse proximity, retro-reflective, and fibre sensor.
The series offers a choice between AC or DC supply voltage, and the output can be chosen between a transistor or solid state output. All the transmitter models include a test input that may be used for either disabling or enabling the transmitting power temporarily for test purposes or multiplexing applications. The DC models are all protected against reverse polarity of supplies, control input and output signals. The output is protected against short circuit and inductive loads. The complete series includes power-on and output indicators. Sensitivity can either be adjusted via an integral potentiometer or via a control wire input, depending on the selected model.

These electronic devices, photoelectric sensors or photocells, use the light emission principle combined with the electronic and are made up
of an emitter or luminous source, the light rays of which are detected by a receiver. The variation in luminous signal, obtained when interrupting this ray, is converted into an electrical signal and is measured and used by
an electrical circuit. The light used is either infrared or red. By making use of this light various type of photoelectric sensors can be made. The AECO photoelectric sensors available in the FOTOSTAR range are the FT18M - FT18 -FTQ series in direct reflection, with reflector with polarized light and emitter-receiver versions. Due to their flexibility regarding the various
standard programmable versions these products offer the possibility of stocking reduction and are easily interchangeable with most of the units available on the market. They are used in the field of automation to check for the presence, counting, position control, etc., and they
are compatible with most logic programmers.
