Breakers are situated at the key points of electrical energy transmission and distribution systems. Their reliability has a decisive influence on the availability, safety and economic efficiency of electrical supply networks.
Initially, the reliability of newly installed breakers depends on their construction, the manufacturing quality and the type and scope of final factory inspections and tests. However, once installed on site, only regular tests can guarantee perfect functioning throughout the operational life of a breaker.
Automatic test systems provide precise information as to the state of the switching chamber and drive unit throughout the entire operational life of a breaker without requiring these to be opened. The sheer number of parameters to be calculated, the wide variety of different breakers in use and the harsh environmental conditions encountered during on-site tests make extremely high demands on the test technology involved. |

Damped oscillatory waves are phenomena associated with the opening and closing of High Voltage (HV) busbars in power transmission stations. The physical environment influences the fundamental oscillation frequency and repetition of the impulses. Repetition frequencies are dependant on the power frequency and distance between contacts. For gas insulated stations this could be up to 5kHz.
The new IEC61000-4-18 standard introduces additional fast damped oscillatory waves at frequencies of 3MHz, 10MHz and 30MHz. These are for testing of signalling and control equipment installed in Gas Insulated Substations (GIS) where the transients occur in metallic enclosures containing SF6 gas.
MIG-OS-OM-EXT has been designed to add fast oscillatory wave capability to existing EMC Partner generators.
MIG-OS-OS1 and MIG0603OSI generators deliver 100kHz and 1MHz slow damped oscillatory waves that were previously included in the IEC61000-4-12 standard.
As the application is for power distribution stations, the equipment to be tested is generally connected to 3-Phase power lines. CDN3000-06-25 (manual) and CDN3000A-06-25 (automatic) enable coupling of both fast and slow oscillatory waves. |

Electric power lines and telecommunication lines often occupy parallel routes as a result of the utilisation of joint facilities or sharing a common right-of-way. Direct contact with electrical mains power can occur through networks line cable faults. The contact may not cause opening of a power system circuit breaker. A.C. current resulting from direct contact may make effective protection difficult. EMC Partner have a range of products designed to meet the ITU-T K44, ITU-T K20 and ITU-T K21 requirements for both power CONTACT and power INDUCTION testing.
MIG-ITU-K44 is a stand alone system that delivers up to 1,600V for enhanced level testing. NW-K44PC can provide up to 600V to meet basic levels.
Additional accessories enable power contact testing at 230V up to 20A per line. |

The testing device 92-7G/-7M is concieved for the control via an external PC/PLC. Therefore display and operating devices were renounced. The modular design of the testing instrument permits an optimal adaptation to the individual requirements of the user. Uneeded functions or equipment are omitted. Together with the device ELABO offers an efficient software package.
HV
The high-voltage is produced primarily over an internal electronic HV-source with a high clock frequency and regulated within less 10 ms. Because of the internal source a low residual ripple < 3% (accordingto VDE 0432-1) can be realised, also for DC tests with high currents. The synchronisation can be carried out on an external signal, on the mains frequency or internal (free-running). An electronic voltage ramp mode (voltage ramp up and ramp down) allows for tests of electronic equipment, at which a non-destructive test can only be carried out if the test voltage is increased slowly or for test items with high self-capacitances. The integrated residual voltage measurement assures a safe discharge of thecapacitances of the test items.
Insulation resistance
Insulation resistance measurement with voltages from 500 V up to 8000 V DC at full HV-current are possible. The resistance measurement is carried out together with the high voltage test at the sametime.
PE resistance
Measuring of the PE resistance or the voltage drop at the protective earth conductor through fully electronicregulated programmable test current 10 ... 32 A at an AC voltage of 6 or 12 V. |
