The RotaBolt® range provides you with either finger-tip, visual or remote measurement of tension throughout the life of the bolted joint. They surpass traditional tightening methods such as:
- Hydraulic Tensioners
- Flogging
- Torque Systems
which have severe control limitations and can result in unpredictable bolt tension and joint failure.
RotaBolts are setting new safety standards in a wide variety of sectors where joints are subject to fatigue, vibration, pressure containment and structural slippage.

The STS stud bolt tensioner range is designed for topside operation in a wide variety of applications including pipeline flanges, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, compressor covers, boiler feed pumps, anchor bolts and many others. The range comprises of 23 imperial and 29 metric models, all suitable for working pressures up to 1500 Bar. Imperial models cover all standard bolt sizes from ¾" to 4", metric versions (detailed on page 93) are available for bolt sizes from M16 to M100. Each of the hydraulic cylinders can be used with a variety of interchangeable nut rotating sockets and threaded pullers, available as individual parts or as convenient conversion kits (see pages 94 and 95 for more specific details). This will ensure that the maximum number of bolt diameters can be accommodated using the minimum number of cylinders. All Hi-Force hydraulic stud bolt tensioners are designed and manufactured to include a wear coated piston, maximum piston stroke indicator, self-energising high pressure seals, dual quick connect couplings for easy multiple tensioner connection and a user friendly operation and maintenance procedure. Additional or spare bridges, threaded pullers and nut rotating sockets can be supplied as and when required.

Flexco® Bolt Solid Plate fasteners are engineered to meet the demands of the toughest material-handling applications. They can be applied to belts mechanically rated up to 620PIW (105 kN/m), and are commonly used on higher-tension main-haulage belts used for highly abrasive materials such as sand, gravel, and crushed stone, as well as coal, cement, and salt.
Bolt Solid Plate fasteners provide a strong, sift-free splice with superior holding ability. The strength of this fastener is derived from the compression of the plates with high tensil strength bolts. The bolts compress top and bottom plates to distribute splice tension evenly across the entire width of each fastener plate. For added strength and pull-out resistance, specially formed teeth penetrate deep into the belt carcass - without damaging the carcass fibers.
Specially designed templets, punches and boring tools make it easy to quickly and accurately punch holes into belts. Fasteners can then be installed on site using portable hand or power tools. The exclusive Flexco piloted bolt speeds installation. The piloted bolt tip cradles nuts securely in place, and simplifies installation by automatically aligning the bolt and nut threads.

|
|
For belts operating over smaller pulleys - such as in construction equipment and road machinery - Flexco® Bolt Hinged fasteners are strong, dependable and easy-to-install.
Designed as a compression fastener, Bolt Hinged is fastened to the belt ends with high tensile strength bolts. These compress the plates in the belt cover. Additional holding capability is provided by the fastener teeth that inbed in the belt without damage to the belt carcass. So splice tension is distributed across the entire plate width and teeth secure the fastener to resist pull-out.
Hinged construction makes Bolt Hinged fasteners ideal for applications requiring frequent belt-length alterations, the joint can be separated simply by removing the hinge pin. A variety of hinge pins are available to match your application.
On-site installation requires only portable hand or power tools. A specially designed templet and boring tool or belt punch quickly and accurately punches bolt holes into belts. Installation is also simplified by our exclusive piloted bolt. Tapered bolt tips cradle nuts securely in place and eliminate the need to twist nuts onto bolts by hand during installation set-up.

In some critical bolting applications, factors such as friction or bolt/joint geometry are such that the measurement of applied torque alone will not provide the degree of accuracy necessary to control the preload within the required limits. Likewise, many critical applications also demand that bolt preload be monitored over the service life of the fastener as part of a predictive or preventative maintenance program. In these applications, ultrasonic measurement of fastener elongation and/or load has frequently proven to be the most accurate, reliable and cost effective solution.
Ultrasonic measurement of bolt preload is made possible by introducing a sonic pulse at one end of the fastener and accurately measuring the time of flight (TOF) required for the echo to return from the opposite end; using material constants, the USM-II converts this TOF into an "ultrasonic length" of the fastener, providing a baseline from which future measurements will be made. When the fastener is tightened, the TOF increases and the USM-II will again utilize material constants to eliminate the effects of stress and temperature variations on sound velocity, providing an accurate elongation or load measurement.
The USM-II uses state of the art hardware and software to achieve these measurements with maximum automation, and minimizes the need for operator interpretation. Offering digital recordation and transmission of data, as well as calibrated analog signal output the USM-II provides a complete system for measurement, recordation, and control of fastener tension in the most demanding applications.

MCM-HT Plus
The new HT-Plus represents the new generation of high-torque extruders with a torque density at 13.5Nm.
This new machine is ideal for those materials requiring a high level of specific energy (engineered compounds, masterbatch, polyolefin) together with an improved production yield. In fact, thanks to the improved specific torque, free volume and maximum achievable speed, this new extruder’s family allows an increased in productivity to a maximum theoretical figure of 75%.
HT Plus series is particularly well suited for processing high specific-energy compounds in the techno-polymers field for applications including:
◊ Reinforced or filled polyamides
◊ Polymeric alloys
◊ PET compounding or direct extrusions
◊ Masterbatches
◊ Polymer Colouring
◊ Thermoplastic rubber TPE's
◊ Biodegradable compounds
In the chart below it is showed, given a fixed size of extruder and maximum available speed, the difference in productivity from the standard HT and the HT-Plus along with the changes of specific energy consumption tied to the process.
|
|
Standard MCM
The extruders of tis family have screws diameters ranging from 40 and 170 mm and are supplied with tailor-made configurations, exploiting their modular principle.
The modular extruder barrel can be supplied with water or air cooling unit, with nitrided steel of wear-resistant steel execution and with specific L/D.
|
|
MCM-HT
The main difference between the “MCM” series and the “MCM-HT” version is mainly due to the design of the gear-box, able to transmit a higher torque in comparison to the traditional extruders having the same dimensions and screws speed.
This modification allows obtaining a higher output, in particular when processing materials requiring high specific energy. The torque increase is approx of 40% (MCM-HT) higher for extruders having a screws speed ranging from 150 to 1200 rpm.
The high-torque extruders are available in various sizes, ranging from 40 to 112 mm with different installed power according to the max screws speed. The task of these technical features is to guarantee remarkable outputs strictly bound to a high level of quality.
