Dormer Tools produce a range of Reamers to finish holes to H7 tolerance. Reaming has always been considered a finishing process and drilling a roughing process. Today, however, many tolerances that used to need a reaming process, can now be met by high-tech drills, such as in the CDX and ADX ranges.
Most common Reamers have a left hand helix because the main application is in through holes requiring chips to be pushed forward. For blind holes, Reamers with straight flutes or right hand reamers are recommended.

Reamers only cut on the bevel and taper leads; the lands on the body do not cut. They are normally designed with an uneven pitch and an even number of teeth to prevent chatter and ensure good hole surface finish and roundness. They include Hand, Chucking and Machine Reamers with straight or Morse taper shanks. They are available in different materials, including carbide which offers the greatest resistance to wear. Carbide reamers are successfully used to cut steels on rigid machine set ups, but often, High Speed Steel designs will be more cost effective.

Sandvik Coromant now introduces a reaming tool programme as a complement to the high performance drill concept CoroDrill 880.
The new reamer is of modular design with replaceable cutting head, and easy to change while still in the machine tool spindle.
Designed for precision and easy handling
The cutting head is located in the holder by a precision made tapered coupling for highest concentricity and repeatability with a radial run-out better than 5µm.
Clamping and releasing of the cutting head is easily carried out by turning the clamping mechanism only a quarter of a turn using a hexagonal key. The tool is equipped with brazed cermet inserts in grade P10R covering reaming of carbon steel, low alloy steel and nodular cast iron.
Directed cutting fluid supply
for highest surface finish
The cutting fluid holes are located directly behind each cutting edge, flushing the chips forward avoiding recutting of chips and damage to the surface generated.

Landis Reamer Program
Landis Reamers for reaming, chamfering, and facing come in four basic styles - solid, detachable blade, insert blade and composite. The style supplied will depend upon the operation to be performed and the type of Landis die head in which it will be used. They can be identified by a symbol number stamped or etched on one of the flutes of the solid and composite reamers and on each one of the blades of detachable and insert blade-type reamers.

- Made from long-lasting M-7 tool steel.
- The left hand spiral, right hand cut design prevents chips
from drawing into cut.
- Choice reamer flute diameters, OD relief, and chamfer relief
are all ground between.
carbide lapped centers. This provides:
- Consistent margin widths
- Concentricity between chamfer and OD
- The capacity to resharpen between centers

Hard Part Reaming:
- Reaming in hardened Steel and HSS up to 68 HRC.
- Replaces internal grinding with improved geometry and surface finish.
- Time savings of up to 90%.
- Straightens holes after hardening.

45° spiral flute :
This type of taper reamer is indispensable to moulders for making injection nozzles in rational fashion.
flute number :2 up to Ø14mm - 3 over.
Straight flute :
The straight flute taper reamers with chipbreaker are recommended when faultless conical holes are desired. It is then possible to avoid any special copyin phenomenon.
flute ni=umber : 3 up to Ø4 - 5 over.
Material : HSS-E Cobalt
Diameters : Ø2.0mm to Ø30.0mm
