Forklift trucks are used in the handling of heavy goods and are used generally in manufacturing and warehouse industry. They consist of a battery or engine powered counterbalanced truck. The truck has a hydraulically powered mast on the front with multiple forks to manipulate the goods. The trucks are either mounted on a 3 or 4 wheel base and are directed by the rear wheel(s).
The trucks are mainly used in the manufacturing and warehouse industries but can also be used for many other situations.
The trucks can be powered with different power sources: diesel, petrol, battery, LPG, hybrid
The masts can vary in size and there are numerous accessories available for the forks depending on the applications. The trucks are available with 3 or 4 wheel bases, are rear wheel directed but front wheel driven.
The choice of which truck depends largely on the application required. The limitations in height, weight and accessibility of the products to be transported are important factors to be taken into account.
