The OMVE HT220 laboratory pasteuriser
OMVE introduces the next generation of Heat Treatment Systems on miniature scale suitable for R&D, QA and pilot plant applications within the different industries.
The compact laboratory pasteuriser enables you to execute a trial with even less than 1 litre. This reduces the required amount of ingredients, preparation time, start-up time and processing time. Moreover, the HT220 pasteuriser allows you to conduct more trials on a day, improving your R&D productivity.
The HT220 laboratory pasteuriser is designed to give the operator maximum flexibility in processing various products. The flow rate is variable between 10 l/hr and 120 l/hr and the temperature can be set between ambient and 150 ºC.
Different heat treatment methods are available. Tube in tube, plate heat exchangers and steam injection can be installed on the same service unit together with a wide range of standard optional accessories. For optimising pilot or industrial process simulations, OMVE supplies customer specific modifications.
The HT220 pasteuriser can be seamlessly integrated with our inline homogeniser (HP-range), inline deaerator (DEA-range), buffer tanks (MPV-range) and (aseptic) filling benches (FS-range).

The system combines Steam with Fluidization then Drying and Cooling. This is accomplished with our exclusive and proven "shaking" mechanism. This “shaking” and “fluidization” assures that all surfaces are exposed and treated equally. A moving belt with your nuts does not assure you that all surfaces are exposed. Any 2 nuts touching one another will have contact points. It is at these points that the steam could possibly not condense, thus the pathogen still can exist in the packaged almonds. Treatment times are critical for 5 log or above reduction of pathogens. VENTILEX determined that if you steam treat the nuts past a certain time, that the "natural" aspects of the nut are changed. You will kill the germ and it will no longer be alive and able to germinate.

Working principle :
This generation of machine has been designed to pasteurise and cool food products in metallic, glass, plastic and multi-layer containers at atmospheric pressure.
The operating system is by gravity with water recycling at such intensity as to guarantee a safe and efficient heat exchange in addition to a continuous filtering, which is comparable to the effect obtained with immersed containers.
One of the main features of these pasteurisers is their modularity, which allows for a drastic reduction in transport costs and easy assembly.
Each module is equipped with an external buffer tank, recycling pump, filter, heating system when necessary and connection piping with any preceding or successive modules.
The modules may carry out both the pasteurisation and cooling depending on the set programme.
Apart from facilitating the transport, the modularity makes the machine highly flexible, where the variation of the working diagram is simplified by increasing or decreasing the heating and cooling phases in accordance with the products and containers. Moreover, the design allows for the future modification of the original machine, with an extension or reduction in length, if required.
When products in glass containers are handled, the modules which follow the pasteurising zone may be preheated.
