The SIGMASCOPE® SMP10 is a hand-held instrument which provides rapid, simple, on-the-spot and, if necessary contact free, measurement of the conductivity of non-magnetic metals.
The corresponding measurement probe ES40 operates at the measurement frequencies of 60 kHz, 120 kHz, 240 kHz and 480 kHz. For automatic temperature compensation of the conductivity measurement the current temperature of the specimen can be measured using either the temperature sensor integrated in the probe ES40 or an optional external sensor.
For the conductivity measurements of very thin Aluminum platings of only about 0.2 mm thickness in the aircraft industry the SIGMASCOPE® SMP10-HF is available. The measurement frequencies are 60 kHz, 240 kHz and 480 kHz with probe ES40 and 1.25 MHz with probe ES40-HF.
Applications
- Absolute measurement of electrical conductivity during the production process of aluminum copper, etc.
- Monitoring heat-treatment processes, strength and hardness of aluminum wrought alloys in the aerospace and automobile industries.

Honeywell’s complete line of conductivity instrumentation—cells, analyzers/controllers and transmitters—ensures the most reliable conductivity measurements available.
The Model 5000TC inductive magnetic field cell operates on a different principle than the traditional contacting electrode cell. This type of cell is also known as an electrodeless cell or toroidal cell. The instrument sends an alternating current of known value through one of the coils, the primary coil. This current creates a magnetic field and induces a current in the process liquid. This current, in turn, induces a current in the pickup coil. The induced current in the pickup coil is directly proportional to the conductivity of the liquid. No direct contact is necessary between the coils and the solution, thus eliminating potential maintenance problems

The CDTX-300 two-wire transmitter is widely used for process control in industry today. This instrument is particularly useful in industrial conditions where electrical interference is an important factor. By galvanically isolating the signals, any interference created is prevented from reaching the transmitter. A loop powered isolator may be required when connecting to data acquisition equipment. The CDTX-300 uses two wires which reduces costs and eliminates the need for expensive coaxial cable. Two-wire transmitters are ideal when used in remote applications that do not have AC power available. The CDTX-300 series conductivity transmitter uses top of-the-line, 4-Ring Potentiometric probes. As opposed to the more widely used 2-Ring Amperometric method, the 4-Ring Potentiometric method provides the highest accuracy and repeatability attainable. When measuring liquids that have a high conductivity, the 2-Ring system is susceptible to polarization. 4-Ring electrodes eliminate the polarization effect by splitting the four rings into 2 current electrodes and 2 voltage electrodes. When placed in a conductive liquid, the 2 current electrodes take the alternating voltage and create a current. This alternating current produces a Buffer Field from which polarization is absent. The voltage is then measured in this field assuring no altered readings.

Monitoring of pH and redox (ORP) is important in many different industrial processes to reduce cost and optimize yield. The requirements of various industry processes are different. For example, in chemical processes sensors must withstand acids or caustic solutions at high temperatures. The electrodes may also require be certification for use in hazardous areas.
In pharmaceutical and food processes measuring systems have to meet hygienic design, and must withstand many sterilization cycles and provide traceability for validation purposes. pH measurement in high purity waters requires special precautions. The high purity pH assembly uses a shielded flow chamber and a permanent outflow of reference electrolyte for stable measurement.
Our high quality products meet specific needs in conformity with ATEX, FM, EHEDG plus meeting accuracy and ruggedness.

A pH electrode that is properly manufactured and kept clean will retain its measuring integrity for quite a long time.
The most common cause for pH measurement inaccuracies is an unclean or improperly cleaned electrode. This is very important to note because, during calibration, the instrument assumes that the electrode is clean and that the standardization curve created during the calibration process will remain a valid reference until the next calibration.
pH meters on the market today will allow an offset of approximately ±60 mV. The deviation from 0 mV is not unusual, in fact it represents the true characteristics of the pH electrode. The deviation from 0 mV becomes a problem if it is the result of calibrating a dirty electrode.
HANNA instruments' HI 221 & HI 223 compare the characteristics of the pH electrode from one calibration to the next. In case of large variances in the electrode condition that can only be the result of a soiled sensor, these meters alert the user that the electrode needs to be properly cleaned prior to calibration and measuring.

Provides measurement of electrical conductivity of solvents and paint formulations for electrostatic spray applications.
- Stainless steel probe
- Solvent resistant housing - a must for usage in the paint laboratory
When measuring conductivity, the liquid builds up a specific ohmic resistance to the electric current, depending on the applied voltage. The reciprocal value is the conductivity. The measured resistance depends on the geometric arrangement within the measuring cell. In order to be independent of the measuring cell, the measured resistance has to be divided by the cell constant "C" which yields the so called specific resistance. The specific resistance describes the application and performance properties of electrocoating paints.
The BYK LC 2, BYK-Gardner Conductivity Meter, was developed in cooperation with the VDA (Association of German Automotive Industry) following VDA standards.
Measurement of the resistance of liquid paints is carried out in the annular passage of the dip probe. The measuring cell consists of two separable parts. The electrodes are arranged concentrically (Cat. No. PW-1710) or parallel (Cat. No. PW-1712), thus forming an annular passage. They are insulated from each other.
The electrodes of the measuring cell are made of stainless steel, with the surface polished and therefore easy to clean. Only an absolutely clean measuring cell guarantees that the entire surface of the electrode is available for measurement. The probe is impervious and can be immersed in solvents for a short time.
