PTFE-based metal-polymer materials: DU®, DU®B, DP4TM, DP4BTM, DP31TM
Our metal-backed, PTFE-based (polytetrafluoroethylene) polymer bearing materials have a common structure, consisting of a steel backing bonded to a porous bronze sinter layer. This bronze sinter layer is impregnated and overlaid with the filled PTFE bearing lining.
The steel backing provides mechanical strength, while the bronze sinter layer provides a strong mechanical bond between the backing and the bearing lining. This construction promotes dimensional stability and improves thermal conductivity.
These polymer bearing linings, being predominantly PTFE, offer exceptionally low friction.
Thermoplastic-based metal-polymer materials: DX®, DSTM, HXTM
DX, DS and Hi-eX have a similar structure to the PTFE-based materials described above; but with these products, the bearing lining consists of a filled thermoplastic extruded tape.
These materials are generally designed to operate with marginal lubrication. DX and HX are most commonly provided with a uniform pattern of indents in the bearing surface that act as grease reservoirs.
The incorporation of PTFE filler in DS enables this material to operate dry when required. Due to the inherent lower friction of this polymer blend, it is usually supplied without indents.
The high-performance engineering polymer found in HX gives this material excellent temperature and chemical resistance combined with good load capacity and is particularly suited for operation under arduous conditions with oil lubrication.

IKOSpherical Bushings are self-aligning spherical plain bushings that have inner and outer rings with spherical sliding surfaces, and can take a large radial load and a bi-directional axial load at the same time. There are many types of Spherical Bushings, but they are basically divided into steel-on-steel types and maintenance-free types according to the kind of sliding surfaces. Steel-on-steel Spherical Bushings have inner and outer rings of high carbon chromium bearing steel, of which sliding surfaces are phosphate-treated and then dry-coated with molybdenum disulfide (MoS2). They can, therefore, operate with low torque, and have excellent wear resistance and large load capacity. They are especially suitable for applications where there are alternate loads and shock loads. They have wide applications mainly in industrial and construction machinery. Maintenance-free Spherical Bushings consist of an outer ring which has a special PTFE liner reinforce with copper alloy meshes on the sliding surface, and a spherical inner ring of which sliding surface has a hard chromium plating. Creep deformation due to compressive load is small, and wear resistance is superior. Thus, they are maintenance-free and can be used for extended periods of time without re-lubrication. They are especially suitable in cased where fixed directional loads are applied and are used mainly in food processing machines and construction machinery and in other applications in which the use of oil is undesirable or lubrication is not possible.

The sixteen series of Aurora spherical bearings all incorporate the single-piece race type construction, providing excellent ball-to-race conformity and structural integrity, along with the advantages of metal-to-metal contact between bearing components. Standard race materials are low carbon, heat treated alloy or stainless steel. Balls are precision ground alloy or stainless steel. Metal on metal race units can be re-lubricated through an annular groove in the outer race with two interconnecting holes positioned at 180 degrees, while a self-lubricating PTFE to metal interface may also be optionally specified in many series. Inch or imperial sizes range from 3/16 inch through 6 inch bore, metrics from 3 through 160 mm. In addition to catalog offerings, non-standard materials substitutions and dimensional modifications are possible, to meet specific customer application requirements.
Inch
Aurora Bearing Company produces over a dozen lines of inch dimension spherical bearings. All series, from the economy, light section fractured race GEZ series through the high performance PNB and PWB series feature precision ground heat treated alloy steel balls, and one-piece steel raceway construction. Race materials include low carbon, and heat treated alloy or stainless steels.
Metric

Aerospace applications demand bearings that deliver exceptional durability, ensuring a consistently superior performance despite changes in temperature and air pressure. Accordingly, aerospace firms impose stringent standards. In addition to meeting MIL standards - U.S. military standards for design and performance commonly applied to commercial aircrafts, Minebea has obtained certification from commercial aircraft manufacturers in Japan, the U.S. and Europe, the world's three largest private-sector aerospace market.
