Flank angle and recessed core diameter of these thread forming screws for plastic have been developed following theoretical appraisal, exhaustive calculations and final proof testing. The 30 deg. Flank angle produces low radial forces when engaging the plastic, therefore resulting in less radial stresses, in other words the hoop stresses in the plastic bosses are less than those experienced with conventional screws. The recessed core geometry provides the ideal flow director for the displaced plastic, encouraging a uniform flow to fill the pitch of the screw without material jamming. This results in the maximum amount of plastic being engaged providing higher sheer loads due to the increased bearing depth of the thread. A combination of the above and the ease of penetration of the 30 deg. Flank angle through the material, encouraging plastic flow, reduces the torque required to drive the screw in. This therefore increases the margin between drive and stripping torque which minimises the potential of stripping during installation. The optimum pitch and maximum fill features provided by the recessed core results in a large area of plastic to be sheered prior to screw failure in tension. This creates a high resistance to pullout loads.

Yard or workshop manual equipments, suitable for extrusion welding of plastic materials; they can operate with 3mm, 4mm, 5mm rods of PE and PP. STARGUN machines are used for the fabrication of containing tanks, fume treatment towers, scrubbers, chemical hoods, aspiration systems, and for joining linings and geo-textiles. The SB series has been designed in compliance with the current safety norms and regulations, and it is composed of:
a mini extruder, operated by an electrical engine. A plastic rod shall be fed through the extruder feeding mouth, to bring material to the plasticization chamber;
a Teflon shoe, directly fixed on the extruder, from which the welding rod would be coming out. The shoe can feature different configurations, by simply rotating the lateral handle around the extruder body;
a self blowing system located inside the control box makes the machine independent from any external air - compressor, making it even more compact and handy;
a double control thermoregulator, guarantees a precision of ± 2° C from the set temperature. The machine is provided with a digital display, where is visualized both the extrusion and the pre-heating temperature;
a safety system blocks the engine till the minimum set temperature has been reached (cold-start system). If the temperature varies more than 10°C
