| Machines need control systems with the same level of sophistication, flexibility and fieldbus networking of large plants. Systems need compact devices able to incorporate functions such as PID algorithm, floating point, sequencing functions of a PLC and the flexibility of a PC. This is now possible without facing excessive costs and without using cumbersome equipment. This device has been termed a PAC. The Ascon's “Sigma microPAC”, is a small but powerful PAC sized to cover the applications for industries such as food and beverage, plastic and rubber, chemicals and pharmaceutics and for machines such as boilers, furnaces, kilns, chillers, autoclaves, plastic extruders, cold rooms. With the basic unit of the Sigma microPAC it is possible to control a process with: eight analogic variables from any type of transducer or sensor directly connected as inputs; four analogic outputs to command control valves or power controllers; eight digital inputs and eight digital outputs to manage interlocks, sequences and commands to pumps, shut-off valves. Expansion units for 32 DI + 32 DO fit applications requiring more sequencing of discrete signals. The 5 programming languages comply with IEC 61131-3 and are aided by the Ascon’s libraries with a large selection of function blocks. Processor is 32 bit, Flash Memory is 4Mbyte (2Mbyte for programming), RAM is 16Mb, 128 Kb retentive. Connectivity is by one RS 232/485 with Master/Slave Modbus RTU or ASCII, one RS 485 with Master/Slave Modbus RTU and one Ethernet port with Modbus TCP/IP. Advantages include being able to meet requirements that PLCs require extra components to do, reduce panel dimensions, lower hardware and development cost |

| Ascon is pleased to announce the release of the sigmaPAC complete control system. Power and innovation paired with exceptional modularity and flexibility allow the sigmaPAC to be used in the most diverse and demanding applications. Features of the sigmaPAC include a multi function platform equipped with control functions for many types of variables (temperature, pressure, flow, level, position…), logic and sequence functions, and process calculations. The sigmaPAC is targeted for applications with multiple parallel tasks to be managed by the same control unit. The various available interface ports include RS232 and RS485, Ethernet and major Fieldbuses to guarantee maximum connectivity. The sigmaPAC Control Unit is compact in size (110mm x 152mm), mounts on standard DIN rail and connects to remote modules using standard Ethernet cables with RJ45 connectors. The processor features 32 bit ARM architecture, 4 MB flash memory, 16 MB DRAM and 128 kB SRAM with battery back-up. Default interfaces include CANopen port, Ethernet 10baseT port and RS232 port, while optional interfaces include RS232/485 serial ports with Modbus RTU protocol, Profibus DP slave, CANopen slave, and DeviceNet slave. A configurable alarm relay digital output, Watchdog and Wake Up digital output and one digital input are part of the onboard I/O package. A wide variety of analog, digital and mixed I/O modules provides the flexibility to create the optimal complete control system for every application. The sigmaPAC system with Control Unit and I/O modules allows for the development of centralized or distributed solutions without modifying or adding components |

The new NETLink PRO for programming, configuring and visualization of programmable controllers from Siemens is plugged directly into the CPU of the programmable controller via its 1.2 m connecting cable.
The connecting cable is an active cable and therefore
does not influence the MPI/PROFIBUS. The second
programmer (PG) jack enables connection of a further device to the CPU of the programmable controller.
The new NETLink PRO can optionally also be powered from an external 24 V DC power source.
At the controller end, the NETLink PRO permits the full transmission rate of 12 Mbps via MPI and PROFIBUS. The transmission rate of the TCP network of 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps is automatically detected by the device. At the MPI end, the NETLink PRO enables 12 simultaneous links. Moreover, the new NETLink PRO features automatic baudrate detection and flexible configuration, such as DHCP and a Web interface.
An Ethernet jack instead of a permanently affixed Ethernet cable permits flexible connection.
The 3 m Ethernet connecting cable (straight) is provided with the NETLink PRO.
The MPI/PROFIBUS is electrically isolated from the external 24 V DC power source and from the Ethernet interface (functional separation).
New is the support for RFC 1006 protocol (ISO on TCP).
The firmware is always updateable to the newest volume with the included update-program SHTools.

With the SSW7-TS with modem, teleservice of a system can be performed via the MPI bus.
An analog 56k modem prepared for use in more than 90 countries is integrated into the housing of the SSW7-TS. The ISDN modem supports the European DSS1 protocol.
The 9-way SUB D connector can be connected for parameterization or for in-situ use as a PC adapter.
The built-in modem can also be used directly on the serial interface.
The SSW7-TS with modem receives its power supply from the CPU via the MPI cable. If no 24V supply is available at the connection point, it is possible to feed in an external 24 V power supply.
The SSW7-TS with modem can also be provided with a new operating system via a modem link. That enables functional expansion of an adapter already installed in the system. The necessary SHTools software is provided.
The analog/ISDN modem can be used for teleservicing a VISU/SCADA application even without a TS function. Settings are made using microswitches on the adapter housing.

The modular world of DIAS is multifaceted and opens up almost inexhaustible possibilities. During development, we concentrate on simple, flexible, safe, inexpensive and, most of all, extremely fast solutions.
Our I/O systems are available in three different series: DIAS, C-DIAS and P-DIAS. All of these product series can be implemented in a modular or decentralized configuration and make a strong impression with their compact design and flexibility. The different series can be combined as desired.
SIGMATEK’s extensive experience has bred a multitude of standard modules.
Highlights DIAS series:
- I/O stations consist of a terminal block and a function module
- Easy exchange of function modules, without having to disconnect the block wiring
- 3-wire connection technology
- Compact design
Highlights C-DIAS series:
- Highly compact design with high package density
- Individual modules simply plugged onto the module carrier
- Fast and simple wiring
- Use of prefabricated cables with connectors
- Comfortable exchange of individual modules
Highlights P-DIAS Series:
- IP67 protection
- Compatible with all other component series
- Time saving connection technology |
