The pneumatic sander uses an abrasive belt or disc to smooth an object or structure by removing material from its surface. It operates on compressed air.
These tools convert compressed air into mechanical energy. They are used where electrically powered tools present a safety risk due to the possibility of explosion.
Compressed air is used to activate all the moving parts of a pneumatic sander. As with other sanders, the working element can be a rotating disc or a belt moved by rollers.
Unlike electric sanders, pneumatic models may be used over long periods without overheating. Small pneumatic sanders can provide great power. In addition, they can be used in environments where an electric motor constitutes an explosion risk.
