ATLAS, POLARIS and ANTARIS laser displacement sensors work by the triangulation principle of measurement.
Single sensors measure displacement, depending on combination and placement you may measure thickness, width, height, length, straightness, flatness, profile or diameter.
Based on a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) the intelligent sensor controls the exposure of the CMOS and the output power of the laser source.
Due to this, LAP laser sensors measure extremely precise and fast, even if surface characteristics like color or reflectivity are changing.
Parameter like measurement speed or filters are handled directly in the sensor's DSP.
Digital workflow from CMOS to evaluation software eliminates the error sources of analog measurement. Still, ATLAS, POLARIS and ANTARIS sensors offer an analog output 4-20 mA.
ATLAS sensors can be connected by RS485, e.g. to further LAP sensors, to I/O modules, encoders ... .
Optional you may use interfaces to Ethernet UDP, Profibus DP or RS232.

Cable displacement sensors are based on an extremely simple operating principle, transforming the linear displacement of the cable into a rotary displacement by means of a drum connected to a return spring.
The sensor outputs a signal proportional to the cable displacement through a hybrid potentiometer or an encoder fixed to the drum shaft.
The signal is then an analogue signal (voltage or current) or a pulse signal.

The program of ODS Black-line laser sensors are a series of sensors based on optical triangulation, with different measuring ranges and resolutions, used in various environments, from the very hot and harsh applications in the heavy industry to the delicate applications in laboratories. Potential applications are innumerable. From food and medical industry over wood-, rubber- and offshore industry to milling marble, stone and cast iron – everywhere a non-contact precision measurement is valued. Seven different measuring ranges are available, the smallest covers 16 to 25 mm and the largest 400 to 1100 mm. Furthermore all ODS Black-line sensors are available with measuring frequencies of 2 kHz and 5 kHz. Higher measuring frequencies give shorter distance between the individual measuring points on a moving target, and increase the possibility for averaging over a sufficient number of measuring points to obtain a required high resolution. Apart from the standard models, all ODS Black-line sensors are supplied with a Select functionality, allowing the sensor to be programmed to calculate a user defined running average. Software with every sensor provides easy setting of the Select parameters. For more detailed information please study the PDF/datasheet on our website www.sensor.dk

The Series 925 Linear Cable Reel Sensor can be used in any linear application up to 1200 inches. The system consists of a heavy-duty spring motor assembly attached to a precision-machined cable drum. As the cable is pulled off of the precision drum, the drum rotates a shaft connected to it. The shaft is precisely geared such that the full number of revolutions of the drum is equal to the appropriate number of revolutions required by the chosen sensor. There are three basic models. The Series 925 Linear Cable Reel Sensor can be used with our Series 1746 Resolver Input Card and a Series 2120 PLC Transducer Module.

Significant scientific and engineering enhancements in advanced materials, Pre-Process and In-Process production methods and in-site testing methods are driving the demand for displacement sensors that can handle extremely high temperatures up to 1832°F (1000°C). Contemporary producers of aircraft engine rotational alignment, plate glass, materials testing extensometry, continuous flow steel, now use standardized high temperature Capacitec sensor solutions for in-process applications to control the quality of their production on a real time basis. Qualification testing of disc brakes, jet engine dynamics and high speed shaft rotations also rely on Capacitec sensors. Advanced materials for automobiles, structural components, and aircraft are also tested for strength and durability with the use of Capacitec's line of extensometers and clip gauges.

The MX1C is a self contained laser displacement sensor. Featuring a small size and high resolution of 50 microns (0.002"), the MX1C is perfect for small mounting areas with delicate applications. The MX1C is easy to align with its visible Red laser. The MX1C offers a 4-20mA analog output, and, a discrete transistor output for displacement determination.
The MX1C utilizes triangulation to determine object displacement. The sensor head projects a laser beam to the object. The diffuse-reflected light from the object's surface is received as a spot image. This spot image moves from position A to B on the PSD (position sensitive device). The optical triangle is used to compute the exact distance between the sensor and the object.

The MX1A and MX1B laser displacement sensors feature high precision laser beams which can detect infinitesimal displacements of up to 0.0004" (10 microns). These laser sensors provide extremely accurate results with a linear relationship between analog output and detected distance. For example, they can detect objects with very low surface reflection characteristics, such as black rubber.
