Seiko Instruments USA Inc. product portfolio is currently made up of three different label printer models: 420,440 and 450, in addition to industrial printers for customer-specific applications.
The user-friendly Smart Tag printers enable users to combine text, graphics and barcodes on a single label, thus making it possible to create individual label layouts for a multitude of applications.
The Smart Label professional software is compatible with Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000 and XP, Vista as well as Mac OS X10.2 or higher. The printers are connected to the host computer either by USB or serial interface.
Their print quality is identical; they differ solely in print speed and label width. The 420 is able to print labels with a maximum width of twenty-eight millimetres, while the bigger models manage a maximum width of fifty-four millimetres. The 440 require 3-4 seconds to print a single label; the 450 needs around 1 second. Both have 300 dpi print resolution.
Apart from the actual labels themselves, the label printers do not incur any additional printing costs because they are thermo-direct printers.”

The Ap1300 series of compact portable thermal professional printers features a high speed, high quality fixed head thermal mechanism, delivering very high quality text and graphics at 8 dots per mm. The printers, AP1300 and AP1310 are small enough to be held in the hand and have a strong case design that eliminates hinge stress while still allowing for the insertion of a label or paper roll with just one hand.
Both offer options of RS 232, full implementation IrDA and Bluetooth® communication professional interfaces. Further development of this series now includes the option to print 'Linerless professional labels which can be printed and cut to any length to suit individual requirements. Perforated stock is available by special order which allows the printer to recognize the Black Mark on a pre-perforated label so printing stops at a given range or length. Linerless labels are available in virtually any colour, with or without perforations.
The most recent addition to this family is the AP1310DC, designed and approved to be powered continuously from a Vehicle battery, or any DC power source in the range 9 to 36V. The user can configure the peak current consumption, and the built in professional converter boasts an efficiency of up to 94% making the printer a perfect match for low power battery application. External shutdown is possible under user control to further conserve power. With its high level of technical specification, the XL400e Series is the ideal professional printer for the textile, apparel and packaging industries. When changing media, at the touch of a button, this intelligent series will sense the changed material and calibrate itself automatically ensuring that the change of media and carbon ribbons is easy and fast.
