The Model 2A Thermocouple Sensor tube consists of a tube containing a filament heated by the passage of a constant current. A thermocouple is welded to the center of this heated element thereby providing a means of directly measuring the element temperature in terms of voltage output. For any constant value of current through the filament, the temperature of the filament increases as the pressure in the tube is reduced. The thermocouple voltage is directly proportional to the increased temperature of the filament, and thus generates an increase in voltage. Sensitive circuitry includes the thermocouple output directly in microns. The standard sensor tube has nickel-plated, forged-brass housing which makes it capable of withstanding 150 psi overpressure. All thermocouple elements are preoxidized under controlled conditions to provide interchangeability of tubes without recalibration. This process also provides high stability and minimizes the effect of contamination. Stainless steel versions are available.

The PT Compact USB is an additional member of the tecsis PT Compact series. The measuring range can be programmed according to the customers demands with especially developed software. The communication between the thermometer and a PC is done via an USB connection. Programming-Kits are not needed.
There are two models of the PT Compact USB. The standard model for temperatures from –50°C up to +200°C and a high temperature model for temperatures up to +600°C, which includes a 100 mm neck tube. The output signal of the PT Compact USB is an analogue 4…20 mA signal.
In order to program the measuring range, it is necessary to remove the measuring insert from the housing. The USB-interface is placed directly on the electronic board of the thermometer.
Precautions have to be taken to avoid ESD-damages, while programming the electronics. You do not have to remove the thermowell of the PT Compact, in order to program the range, thus you do not have to stop your process.

PRINCIPLE:
The air measurement probes are designed in order to take quickly into consideration a small temperature variation (air) within a bad heat conductor body (air, gaz). That is the reason of the use of an as small as possible instrument which is protected by an open-work tube. Nevertheless, it can be unavoidable to assemble the probe in a full tube, whose walls are very thin (normally 2/10) in case of erodent, dusty or choc environnement. Such precautions must be taken in order to avoid a decrease in the sensitivity of the probe.
INSTALLATION:
Assemble the probe away from the walls in order to eliminate the wall temperature influence. Please, tell us exactly the future application of the probe.

Some TECNOSOFT temperature dataloggers are provided with external probe with cable. The dataloggers that use this probes are:
TempStick Probe (probes 03, 04, 05, 06 only)
TempStick Square (probes 03, 04, 05, 06 only)
TempGuard (probes 03, 04, 05, 06 only)
TempStick Radio (probes 03, 04, 05, 06 only)
It is possible to request every kind of probe among the listed ones for the dataloggers in the above list. There is a standard probe, in rubber, and different types of food grade probes. For some sensors the length of the cable is customizable when ordered; all the probes are water resistant (IP68 protection degree).
Note: when you order a probe for a datalogger, specifiy, along with the name and/or code of the logger, the code of the probe and the code of the cable too.

Such sensors are designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres in compliance withe the 94/9/CE European Directive.
"i" protection concept - Intrinsic safety - demands that a Zener barrier or a galvanic isolator limits the energy delivered to the circuit in order to prevent any arc or spark from arising.

Such thermocouples are suited for immersion in the melting materials. They are therefore protected by a cast iron, silicon carbide or Sialon protecting tube. The choice of the material depends on the requested performances.
Each one of these protecting tube materials holds advantages and drawbacks as far as mechanical or thermal resistance or longevity are concerned. Environmental and operating conditions are key elements when it comes to choosing the right material. Protecting tubes offering good mechanical resistance are for instance recommended in high capacity melting ovens whereas protecting tubes with high resistance to corrosion are best suited for temperature
