Position switches are used wherever moving parts on machinery and plants need to be positioned, controlled and monitored.
The design details in relation to body dimensions, materials, electrical loading capacity, rated values and quality characteristics are to a great extent determined by the variety of application, from precision mechanics to heavy engineering.
Many of the position switches fulfill the requirements of the IEC 60947-5-1 product standard and can therefore also be used as position switches with safety function.
The position switches are available with snap action or slow action.
A wide variety of manufacturers of actuator heads are available. The majority of units are also obtainable with metal rollers.
The position switches are shown in the sequence of body sizes, starting with the smallest design.

Position Sensing Solutions
Bimba offers pre-tested Position Sensing Solutions for Bimba industrial actuators. Our solutions provide a cost effective interface between the manufacturer of pneumatic actuators and electrical control systems. Our pre-tested solutions also eliminate costly, time-consuming design and fabrication required if switches are purchased separately and provide an aesthetically pleasing installation.
Both traditional Bimba switches as well as newer generations of Bimba switches are offered to allow for maximum flexibility to fit your application.
The switches perform the same functions as conventional limit switches suppliers. They can be used as position indicators, cycle counters, or to confirm operation.
All Bimba switches are designed to sense a magnet that is incorporated into the piston of the cylinder. Magnets are standard in Bimba MRS cylinders, but must be purchased as an option on other Bimba actuators.
A variety of outputs are offered for each switch family including PNP (transistor sourcing), NPN (transistor sinking), normally open contacts, and higher power triac. |

| The outstanding feature of the Contrinex series 700 inductive proximity switch is its one-piece stainless steel housing which, at one fell swoop, manages to eliminate the most critical weakness of this type of device. Forget damaged plastic caps, forget breakdowns due to inadequate sealing; they are things of the past! These switches are also exceptional in having very long operating distances, for instance 6 mm for the size M12 embeddable version. As a further bonus, these operating distances are also achieved on non-ferrous metals, e.g. aluminum and brass. These improvements result in completely new application possibilities for traditional inductive devices, without having to forego any of their advantages. In all others ways, they are normal proximity switches with the usual data and protection functions. Embeddable and non-embeddable versions in sizes M12, M18 and M30 are available immediately. |
|
| All the electronic sensors work on a non-contacting basis using industrial magnets - this includes Hall and magnetoresistive sensors. The exceptions are the gear-wheel sensors which use a ferrous gear-wheel. The advantage of magnetoresistive sensors is that the same sensor, a standard small model, can be used for different operational distances. The operational distances which can be achieved depend only on the strength of the magnet used. All the models can also be delivered with non-wearing Hall sensors. Besides the various standard models, we also manufacture customised housings to your requirements. |
|
Non-contact magnetic detection proximity switch manufacturers produces a digital output. The output produced by Hall-Effect Proximity Switch sensor switches between logic low (operate point) and logic high (release point) with presence and absence of a magnet as a target. The difference between the magnetic operate and release points is called the hysteresis of the device. The built-in hysteresis circuitry allows clean switching of the output even in the presence of external mechanical vibration and electrical noise.

| The range includes different size devices for operating pressures from 100 to 500 bars. Their main applications are in high-pressure hydraulic systems. They feature a stainless-steel housing imperviously shrunk onto a ceramic disk at the sensing face. |
|
For demanding applications in high-temperature areas, inductive proximity detectors with good long-term reliability have become increasingly popular. Contrinex offers a series of embeddable and non-embeddable HT switches in sizes M8 to M50. The devices have operating distances from 2 to 25 mm, and are respectively suitable for applications up to 140°C, 150°C, 180°C and 230°C.
The executions for 140°C, 150°C and 180°C feature built-in professional amplifiers. Connections by means of a 2 m silicone or Teflon cable is standard. Other cable lengths and types are available on request.
For 230°C types, the amplifiers are built into an M12 stainless-steel housing, which is connected by means of a standard 2 m Teflon cable, and thus removed from the hot area. This cable carries a pure DC, rather than a high-frequency signal, and its length can thus be chosen freely, without having a negative influence on the switching behavior of the device, and without the need for adjustment. Connection of the amplifier is by means of a 2 m PUR cable.
All the usual protection functions, such as short-circuit, overload and voltage-reversal protection are built in. Furthermore, the devices feature good protection against environmental influences (IP 67). |

A proximity switch is a device which causes a switching action without physical contact. SCHMERSAL proximity switches manufacturers respond to targets that come within the active range of their generated sensing fields. These units are completely self-contained, and house a field professional generator, professional amplifier, and other necessary circuitry to accomplish electronic switching.
The units are all solid state and have no moving parts that can wear out. The electronic switches are not susceptible to contact contamination, contact erosion, or material transfer as are mechanical switches.
Their service life, within their specified ratings, is virtually unlimited. The switching is insensitive to vibration, and is positive (full step function) without chatter, regardles of how slowly the target approaches or recedes from the sensor |
|
Inductive proximity switches manufacturers are designed for wear-free and non-contact detection of metal objects. For this they use a high-frequency electro-magnetic AC field that interacts with the target.
Moreover uprox+ detection offer highest switching disntance with their unique professional coil concept, factor 1 and highest operational safety from the start by simple and safe mounting. |

| These new Contrinex size M8 analog transducers are distinguished by their unusually large sensing range from 0 to 4 mm with, at the same time, excellent temperature stability between -25°C and +70°C, as well as outstanding repeat accuracy. Thus, the distances achieved using these devices are far in excess of those achieved with conventional standard detection where, in order to obtain similar detection values, a model with a diameter of at least M18 would have to be used. In addition, since intermediate digitization has been done away with, the resolution of the Contrinex devices is virtually unlimited. The use of analog sensor technology permits the realization of numerous applications. For instance, the regulated approach to end positions at minimum cost, the realization of several switch points with a single device, monitoring concentricity or the detection of vibrations. The switches are available with output voltage ranges of 0 … 5 V or 0 … 10 V. As a result of the non-linearized transfer function, the Contrinex devices are inexpensive but nevertheless efficient. Contrinex inductive analog sensors are also available in sizes M12, M18 and M30. |
