KIMO specially designed and developed hand-held solarimeters for the control of photovoltaic and thermal installation.
With SL100 and SL200, it’s possible to :
- Study sunshine (direction and aperture blockage)
- Specify the type og generator to use (photovoltaic or thermal)
- Specify the optimal direction for installation of pannels
- Make an evaluation of the energetic exposure which will be produced
- Control the conformity of the installation
- Control installation and planned efficiency
- Control the proper functioning of the installation
Technical features :
- Measurement and spot check of solar power from 1 W/m2 to 1200 W/m2
- Spectral response : from 400 to1100 nm
- Calculation of energetic exposure in Wh/m2
- Save (SL100) or recorder values (SL200)

The Kipp & Zonen range of thermopile-based Pyranometers has been in production for several decades and is respected around the world for the measurement of solar irradiance to World Meteorological Organisation and ISO 9060 Standards. The instruments are used in meteorological research, solar energy research, material testing, climate control in greenhouses, building physics, science and many other applications.

Kipp & Zonen is the expert in top level pyranometers with exceptional accuracy. In addition, we also have developed a functional solution for routine measurement of solar radiation; the SP Lite2. Instead of a thermopile, it uses a photodiode for consistent measurements.
SP Lite2 is designed for all-weather measurement of solar radiation. It has a specially shaped Teflon™ diffuser that gives very good directional response and is largely self-cleaning. The detector is a silicon photo-diode, so the spectral response is not as broad or flat as our CMP series pyranometers with thermopile detectors. The standard cable length is 5m with an option of 15m.
SP Lite2 is easy to use. It can be directly connected to voltmeter or data logger. Direct readout in Watts per square meter (W/m²) can be derived from the measured voltage divided by the calibration coefficient.
The photodiode detector has a limited spectral range of 0,4 to 1,1 µm. It is calibrated to see the whole spectrum. But very sensitive to fluctuations in weather. The main advantage of the SP Lite2 is the fast response time. The material warms up immediately, while a CMP pyranometer needs time to take up the surrounding temperature
