High frequency microwave impulses are coupled to a cable or rod and guided along the probe. The impulses are reflected by the product surface and received by the processing electronics.
Due to this measuring principle, the comprehensive adjustment with the product is no longer necessary. The instruments are adjusted to the ordered electrode length. The shortable cable and rod versions are suitable for individual adaptation to the local conditions.
Even process conditions such as high dust and noise generation or strong steamy atmospheres do not influence the accuracy of the measurement.
Density fluctuations, different granulation or even fluidising do not influence the accuracy. This applies also to the change from dry to wet gravel.
Strong build-up on the electrode or on the vessel wall does not affect the measuring result.
With measuring ranges up to 30 m, the sensors are also suitable for high vessels. Temperatures up to 150°C and pressures from vacuum up to 40 bar cover a wide application range.
By using a coaxial guide tube, VEGAFLEX 65 operates completely unaffected by vessel installations such as e.g. heating spirals or struts. A special adjustment is not necessary.
Extremely short microwave impulses with low emitted power in the C-band and K-band frequency range are emitted by the antenna system to the measured product, reflected by the product surface and received again by the antenna system. They spread with light velocity and the time from the emission to receipt of the signals is proportional to the level in the vessel. A special time spreading procedure enables a reliable and precise measurement of extremely short time periods.
By simply entering the vessel dimensions, a level-proportional signal can be displayed. An adjustment with emptied and filled vessel is no longer necessary!
The spreading of microwaves is virtually not affected by the ambient temperature and ambient pressure. Radar sensors are ideal for use under arduous process conditions. Pressures from vacuum to 160 bar and temperatures between -40 and 400°C are no problem for a radar level measurement.
Fluctuating product compositions or complete changes of the product do not influence the measurement result. A new adjustment is not necessary.
For measuring ranges up to 70 m, VEGA now has an optimised radar technology in its program. Due to its increased receiver sensitivity (factor 40), VEGAPULS 68 delivers reliable measured values in spite of higher signal damping in solids.
Non-contacting radar measurement delivers reliable levels in dusty environments, like in storage facilities for building materials. Also in the food processing industry, in steel production as well as for level measurement of powders and granulates in the chemical industry, the extended measuring range has proven to be extremely effective. Adjustable fl anges allow the eduction of false refl ections and the optimisation of the useful echo.
