Sub-Zero Temperatures From Compressed Air
Using only factory compressed air, ITW Vortec's Vortex Tubes generate temperatures down to -40¢XC for spot cooling in a wide variety of industrial applications and processes. A Vortex Tube separates compressed air into hot and cold air streams, lowering the supplied air temperature by as much as 40¢XC and delivering refrigeration up to 6000 BTUH. With no moving parts to break or wear out, Vortex Tubes offer reliable, maintenance-free operation and easy installation. Various models are available for specific cooling requirements and, at only 150 mm to 330 mm long, they serve as a very compact, cooling component on machinery and equipment.

Meech Stainless Steel Vortex Tubes convert compressed air into two airflows, one extremely cold and the other extremely hot. Compressed air enters the spin chamber tangentially. This causes the column of air inside the tube to rotate at very high speed (up to 1 million rpm). The air at the outside of the column, moving very fast has a lot of energy and is hot. The air at the centre of the air at the centre of the column, moving relatively sowly has little energy and is cold. The hot outer air is bled of off at one end of the tube and and the cold inner air at the other. Vortex Tubes have no moving parts and can produce temperatures as low as 50°C below the inlet air temperature and as high as 110°C.

Coldstream Air Guns from Meech Air Technology provide a cold airflow that is commonly used for spot cooling. The Vortex Tube is a the heart of the Coldstream Gun, encased within hot and cold end silencers. The cold air produced by the vortex tube is easily directed on to the area to be cooled by use of the knuckle trunking. The hot air created by the opposite end of the Vortex tube flows to the atmosphere via a silencer. The cold airflow can be as low as 50°C below inlet air temperature and be maintained to +/- 0.6°C.

Vortex Tubes With Metal Generators, Stainless Steel Body:
Vortex Tubes are devices that work on a standard compressed air supply. Air enters the vortex tube and literally splits the air flow into two parts - cold air at one end, and hot air at the other - all without any moving parts.
Vortex Tubes have an adjustable valve at the "hot" end controls the volume of the air flow, and the temperature exiting at the cold end. By adjusting the valve, you control the "cold fraction" which is the percentage of total input compressed air the exits the cold end of the vortex tube.
Inside is the interchangeable brass "generator" which can alter the air used in the vortex tube, and control the temperature ranges you wish to have at the cold and hot ends. There are several ranges of generators for compressed air capacity. There are also two basic types of generators - one to produce the extreme cold temperatures (maximum cold temperature out called the C generator) and one type to produce the maximum amount of cooling (maximum refrigeration called the H generator).
WHY USE Frigid-X Vortex Tubes over others?
Vortex Tubes - Frigid-X are constructed of stainless steel and use a generator and valve made of brass and sealed with viton o-rings to allow their use in the widest range of environments. Others use plastic generators and standard Buna N O-Rings and charge extra for brass and viton. The unique design and quality of materials used in Frigid-XT™ products will deliver years of maintenance-free operation.
Frigid-X™ Vortex Tubes Advantages:
- No moving parts, reliable, maintenance free
- No coolant
- Compact and lightweight
- Low cost application
- Maintenance free units
- Instant cold air in environmental chambers
- No spark or explosion hazard
- Interchangeable generators

Vortex Coolers from ITW Vortec keep electrical cabinets and control panels cool, clean and protected. An affordable, maintenance-free alternative to air conditioners, the easy-to-install Coolers have no moving parts to wear out. Vortex Coolers incorporate vortex tube technology that uses filtered compressed air to produce a refrigerated air stream distributed throughout the enclosure. Unlike fans that pull in hot, dirty air, the enclosure Coolers maintain a light positive pressure inside the cabinet to effectively seal out the surrounding contamination, heat and humidity that can wreak havoc on sensitive electronic controls. Refrigerated air produced by the vortex tube enters the cabinet while hot air is expelled through a relief valve. Models are available to deliver up to 5000 BTUH of refrigeration. The UL-listed enclosure cooler systems are thermostatically controlled and are available in NEMA 12, 4 and 4X rated models.

Meech Air Technology Stainless Steel Cabinet Cooler Systems provide a cold air source to stop cabinets overheating and prevent ingress of contamination such as dust or moisture. When compared to fans that are commonly found in cabinets, Meech Cabinet Cooling Systems provide the ideal cooling solution. The Vortex tube is at the heart of the Cabinet Cooler. The cold air produced by the Vortex tube flows into the cabinet through the bulkhead fitting and is then ducted to a known problem component or to the centre of the cabinet. The hot air created by the opposite end of the Vortex tube flows to the atmosphere via a silencer.
