The scientist Blaise Pascal formulated the principle of pressure propagation in liquids many years ago:
”A liquid confined in a vessel which is subjected to pressure distributes the pressure uniformly upon the walls of the vessel. ”
ETP has explored the many positive qualities in this principle, developed it further and applied it to the hub-shaft connections.
”A hydraulic pressure medium confined in a double-walled sleeve is pressurized (with screws/pistons or with an external pump). The pressure is distributed evenly along and around hub/shaft. The double-walled sleeve expands uniformly and gives an even contact pressure against shaft and hub ”.
The ETP-Principle works because of the hydraulic system: compact design, fast mounting, easy to position, good runout, does not damage the contact surfaces and is easy to dismantle. These qualities are important today and will be even more important in the future.
With increasing requirements on down sizing the machines, better runout/balance, increased machine speeds, shorter downtime for service and increased precision, is why the ETP hydraulic hub-shaft connections are choosen for more and more designs.
|
|
ETP-HYLOC, due to its robust design, is ideally suited to work in difficult environments and heavy operations like steel rolling mills, process industry etc. An interesting application, among many, has been fastening of rolls to shafts. ETP-HYLOC is fast to mount, has good concentricity and can take high radial loads.

ETP Transmission AB is specialized in development and manufacturing of high precision hydraulic locking devices.
A new hydraulic hub-shaft connection assortment of the more common ETP-Products are now introduced in stainless steel.
The demand from the food and process industries is increasing for stainless steel hub-shaft connections, surface coatings and plating are no longer sufficient.
The three most common types of the ETP-Products, ETP-CLASSIC, ETP-MINI and ETP-EXPRESS, are now available as standard items.
ETP-CLASSIC Type R, recommended for all normal needs.
For shaft sizes from 15 to 50 mm.
ETP-MINI Type R, for small shafts with sizes from 6 to 14 mm.
ETP-EXPRESS Type R, especially suitable for applications where adjustments
of the hub are made frequently or because of the need for radial access.
For shaft sizes from 15 to 50 mm
All surfaces exposed to the environment are made of stainless steel. In for example food processing this meets essential requirements.
Choose, for your application, the optimum hub-shaft connection in stainless steel
from ETP.

Cross Shaft Clamping Elements, by means of frictional forces, provide connection of all types of transmission equipment to their respective shafts, enabling transmission of both torque and axial thrust loads. Precision tapered thrust cones within the clamping elements create high pressure between shaft and hub to securely fasten pulleys, sprockets, gears etc. Stresses in both hub and shaft are similar to heavy press fits, however, the actual stresses are easy to calculate; and the hub can always be easily dismantled without damage to it or the shaft; only a torque wrench being required for both assembly and disassembly.
Precision transmission of torque with no backlash is obtained with shaft clamping elements, without the need of tight manufacturing tolerances of mating components. Simplified designs can enable manufacturing cost reductions, coupled with easy assembly and disassembly.
Cross Shaft Clamping Elements provide an alternative method of connecting hubs to shafts to:-
Tapered Bushes, Hydraulic Clamping Systems, Fine-bored Hubs, with Precision keyways & Locking Setscrews ,Heavy Press Fits & Welded Components.
The following types are available:-
RCK 15 - RCK 13 - RCK 16 - RCK 70 - RCK 71 - RCK 80 - ACE 81 - RCK 61 -
ACE 54 - CCE 55 - RCK 40 - RCK 45 - RCK 11 - RCK 50 - RCK 19 - RCK 95

Rigid Couplings
Various Ruland Rigid Couplings
Ruland rigid couplings are available in one and two-piece designs, with and without keyways, in aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel. A large number of standard sizes are available in straight and step bore combinations to fit shafts ranging from 1/8" to 2" in the inch series and from 3mm to 50mm in the . Inch to metric conversion couplings are also available by special order. Shaft couplings are stamped with the Ruland name and the bore sizes for easy identification.
The one-piece rigid coupling wraps around the shaft, providing high torsional holding power without the shaft damage and fretting inherent when a set screw style coupling is used. The two-piece rigid coupling has the additional benefits of allowing for disassembly and maintenance without removal of other components. Two-piece couplings also feature opposing hardware for dynamic balancing.
Extra steps are taken in the manufacturing of rigid couplings to provide important performance benefits. As one of these steps, the bores of Ruland straight bore couplings are precision honed. Honing of the bores provides several benefits that enhance the overall performance of the coupling. Applications that require strict control of shaft alignment benefit greatly from honing, which assures both bores are collinear. Honing also corrects any residual distortions caused by stresses introduced during the manufacturing process, resulting in a round, precisely sized bore. Proper sizing and geometry assures a large percentage of shaft contact and greater torque transmission ability.

Shaft Collars
Ruland shaft collars are offered in multiple styles to fit shafts ranging from 1/8" to 6" in the inch series and 3mm to 80mm in the metric series, in a variety of materials and finishes. Collars are stamped with the Ruland name and the bore size for easy identification.
Extra steps are taken in the manufacturing of a Ruland shaft collar to provide important performance benefits. For example, Ruland collars are single point faced (indicated by the circular groove on the face) during the boring operation to insure perpendicularity of the face to the bore. Perpendicularity is important for alignment when collars are used as a bearing face, a mechanical stop, or for mounting other components.
One-piece clamp style shaft collars wrap around the shaft for even distribution of clamping forces. This results in a tight fit and greater holding power, without the shaft damage caused by set screws. Ruland uses carefully selected materials and proprietary processes to ensure that the clamping gap remains open for simpler and more precise adjustment, installation and fit.
Two-piece clamp style shaft collars offer the same benefits of the one-piece clamp collars with additional versatility and convenience. They are easily disassembled, reducing labor and downtime when adjustment, removal, or replacement is necessary. Ruland keeps both halves of its two-piece collars together throughout the manufacturing process to assure a perfect match for proper fit, holding power and alignment.

Powerful and compact
Torque transmission is possible by means of PETER shrink-on disks.
The principle is thoroughly convincing especially in input and output connections by means of hollow shafts. Contrary to keyed connections, the non-positive connection by means of shrink-on disks permits considerably thinner wall thicknesses for the hollow shafts since the greatest part of the torque transfer is absorbed by the shrink-on disk and the shaft is not weakened by additional slots.
This results in lower shaft diameters and consequently volumetric savings in the remaining system. Weight, moments of inertia and space can be elegantly saved in this manner.
Other factors in favour of shrink-on disks are
• high performance density
• detachable connection
• rapid and simple assembly
• economic use

General Fabreeka® bushing information:
- Minimum wall thickness of 3/32" is recommended
- Fabreeka® bushing ID is the same as the bolt OD, and the bushing OD is the same as the hole it will fit into.
- To facilitate inserting Fabreeka® bushings, they can be lubricated with a soap solution.
- In general, tolerances on rubber impregnated bushings need not be controlled to the same closeness as required for metal fits, since Fabreeka® is a compressible/flexible material.
- In general production, the tolerance on bushing dimensions is ±1/32". If closer tolerance is required, please contact Fabreeka's® Engineering Department.
Fabreeka® washers are used under the steel washers of the hold-down bolts of Fabreeka® mountings to absorb the rebound shocks and afford complete isolation by eliminating the transmission of vibration through the bolts and steel washers. It also aids in preventing the bolts from becoming loose.

With the full faced flanges out of PE 100, AGRU offers a perfect joining possibility to other materials.
Since a lot of fitting-accessories (slide valves, flaps or subterranean hydrants) are manufactured out of gray cast iron with spheroidal graphite, these full faced flanges were developed. By using them an unproblematic integration of other materials into a piping system out of polyethylene is possible. The full faced flanges are available in the dimensions 90, 110, 125, 160 as well as 180 and in the dimensioning SDR 11.
The constructive design of the full faced flange allows a permanent leak-proof connection. The hole pattern is in accordance with DIN 2501,
sheet 1. The long welding ends allow butt welding as well as electro-fusion.
A permanent stability as regards form and pressure is ensured by the use of PE 100 material and the integrated steel core.
