ACE's expanded line of compact rotary dampers promotes smooth mechanical motion that enhances functionality and provides that touch of quality. Additional benefits include increased operational safety and component life, as well as noise reduction.
Rotary dampers minimize kinetic energy by controlling velocity. Designs are available utilizing viscous shear, vane with orifice or piston types, in addition to a locking damper. Models are available as single or bidirectional, continuously rotating or single rotating. Other options include: with or without gears, latching or unlatching, and fixed or adjustable.
Selected applications for rotary dampers include: computer hardware, flip top cell phones, compact disc units, video cameras, tape players, automotive compartment panels, seats, aerospace and medical equipment, furniture, safety covers and machine guards.

Enidine's Rotary Viscous Dampers (RVD) provide smooth control in applications that require continuous or intermittent positioning, forward, reverse and fixed path motion. The RVD design combines low breakout friction with viscous damping to control bi-directional rotary motion in applications such as door hinges, rollers and access panels. Each RVD contains a solid, rotating element called a "rotor". This rotor is surrounded by a thick film of silicone fluid and sealed inside a stationary housing. The RVD's rotor provides resistance by shearing the silicone fluid, controlling the desired motion.

Motion Control/Bumpers/Feet
Richco’s range of rotary and axis dampers provide the white goods, audio & video entertainment, automotive and general electronics industries with a solution to dampening and providing controlled movement to give added value and functionality to the end user. Richco’s rotary and axis dampers are available in different torques and mounting methods such as screw or snap-in mount.
Richco also provides door latches that act as a ‘push/pull’ locking and unlocking device enabling the door/compartment of your application to be securely closed and opened. Our door latch range also consists of a spring-assisted version.
Richco also supplies a number of molded rubber bumpers and rivet-fastened push-on feet for dampening or for taking light shock absorption on moving parts. Richco’s bumpers and feet also secure and resist movement of your application when it is at rest. They also prevent surface damage with their anti-skid, scratch and stain/mark resistance properties. Richco’s bumpers and feet come in different shapes, sizes, colours, hardness ratings and materials. If you cannot find a specific product in this section or require further technical details, please contact your local Richco office.

Dashpot damping applications fall into one of the following generic categories: Velocity Control of Solenoids, Spring Loaded Mechanisms, Falling Mass, Creating Time Delay, Vibration Damping, Valve Damping, Limiting Overaction, or Cushioning Impact. At rest, the dashpot is a passive device and has no force output. In motion, the dashpot offers a resisting force which rises to equal the force of the input load, achieving a zero net force. This results in zero acceleration and constant velocity. Force limits of Airpot dashpots are determined by the direction of damping and the diameter of the piston. In pull damping units, a vacuum is being created in the dashpot as the piston moves outward. Thus, the maximum resisting force limit of the unit is a direct function of atmospheric pressure and the area of the piston (F=PA) Assuming an equal ambient pressure, larger diameter units will have force limits higher than smaller diameter units; the limits being directly proportional to their piston areas. In the push damping (compression) direction, air must be compressed into an ever decreasing space; the force can rise to a level which is higher than is possible in the pull damping direction. Precision Dashpots from Airpot are available in standard or custom designed configurations, depending on your application. Airpot dashpots unique combination of materials, combined with the precision of the parts and their close fits, provides ultra low friction, immediate response and long life without seals or lubricants, even under extreme temperatures, high speed operation, or long periods of non-use.

The intelligent damper - due to ER-technology (ERF)
The Bansbach easyERF dampers are extremely quick and
efficient dampers with a broad application field. Its innovation
potential is the electronically adjustable damping intensity
and the reaction time within milliseconds. Advantages of the
damper: no wear and tear, maintenance-free, high reliability.
The technology:
In the electrical field, the electrorheological fluid changes its consistency from thick to thin within milliseconds. According to the ERF-technology, the dampers adapt very quickly to changing system requirements, using as little energy as possible. An electrical signal determines the damper forces which can thus be optimally adapted to operating excitation forces. The damping force can consequently be adjusted within the characteristic field - quick, at any time, noiceless - and only by the use of a simple electronic interface.

ACE Controls' hydraulic dampers are the economical choice for solving your
automation damping problems. These maintenance free controls are ideal for drilling and tapping equipment, pick and place automation, swinging loads, tooling fixtures, lids, slides and more.
|
|
They are used as safety- and function elements in order to damp speed and to slow down masses.
The damping speed of the adjustable dampers can be adjusted when the damper is already installed.
|
|
|
Adjustable, Double Acting (ADA 500 and ADA 700 Series) rate controls regulate speed in both tension and/or compression modes independently. Fixed orifices and interchangeable cartridges are available for the ADA 500 Series, which provide tamperproof operation once the desired rate has been determined. An optional remote adjustment cable provides adjustment control in otherwise inaccessible locations for the ADA 500 Series.

Motion Dampers and Lid Stop Dampers
Uncontrolled movements when opening and closing, lifting and lowering lids are dangerous, uncomfortable, and stress on the material.
STABILUS motion and lid stop dampers from the STAB-O-SHOC product line will solve this problem.
Through their damping force, they support controlled motion during lifting and lowering of lid applications; they also reduce material wear by avoiding hard stops in the end position.
Properties/Characteristics
STAB-O-SHOC HD dampers from STABILUS are the most cost-efficient type for safe and reliable damping of uncontrolled movements.
As standard motion and lid stop dampers, they are characterized by a simple design, which makes them easy and inexpensive to manufacture. Further advantages are their high quality and safety levels, outstanding performance, and long service life.
STAB-O-SHOC oil-hydraulic motion or lid stop dampers come in two basic types; damping force is laid out either in the direction of tension or compression. It is characterized by a damping force required in only one direction of motion. It can also be varied path-dependent via the stroke by means of bypass grooves.
As simple lid end stop and motion dampers they are designed for vertical, orientation-specific mounting. However, when equipped with an additional, closed separating element, they can also be installed regardless of orientation.
Therefore, they are ideal as vibration dampers.
For a function overview of our STAB-O-SHOC dampers, please refer to the selection matrix.

A Camloc Damper is designed to influence the characteristics of movement by providing velocity or time control for applications requiring the controlled arrest of a weight or lid, when moving from one position to another. Camloc Dampers can be used to enhance performance in a variety of Industrial applications.
Camloc Dampers are not ' vibration ' dampers, for example as used in washing machines and they are not dampers required for controlling the sudden stopping of a weight / lid. Camloc Dampers are for low frequency, velocity or time controlled applications, which may involve 10 to 20 activities per day.
Typical Motion Control Problems
