Properties and application
Heat Exchanger Gasket is a term that has been given to gasket used in heat exchangers. The structure of the gasket or its type vary according to operating conditions of the exchangers. The DONIT TESNIT® heat exchanger gaskets come in a broad spectre of types including single or double jacketed, corrugated, plain metal, soft and many other. A large selection of different materials allows heat exchangers to operate at temperatures beyond the capabilities of most soft gasket materials.
Advantages
Available in a wide range of materials, since they are all custom made. There are few limitations regarding size and shape.
Metal jacketed heat exchangers - The metal jacket provides mechanic strength to contain the filler and improves chemical resistance.
Unique construction provides stability and ensures trouble-free handling and installation.
Shape and construction
These gaskets are used in shell and tube type heat exchangers. They can be manufactured in very different sizes, shapes, with or without bars. The primary seal is at the inner diameter of the gasket, the external gasket diameter acts as a secondary seal. The bars seal between the heat exchangers passages.
The DONIT TESNIT® heat exchanger gaskets are produced in several types to meet the most demanding applications. Gaskets for heat exchangers can be manufactured in metal or alloy with a thickness of 0.4 mm featuring a soft core inside a metallic jacket.

The sealing insert is made of corrugated stainless steel, soft gasketing material or rubber. This insert is coated with PTFE and open on one side, usually on the outside. Thanks to the high chemical stability, good mechanical properties and permanent resistance in the atmosphere (humidity, gases, temperature changes) they are suitable for all types of gaskets and different media, mostly for aggressive chemicals.
Advantages
Thanks to the high stability of C-F bond virgin PTFE, which is used for the envelope, exhibits extraordinary chemical resistance. Combinations of two or more insert materials allow a large number of different applications.

sed primarily in high-temperature or cryogenic seals and gaskets, calendared mesh and mesh-core cable are designed to not just survive but flourish in operating environments where other materials, such as refractory rope or polymer substrates cannot. During the design phase, wire types chosen specifically for their resistance to certain destructive elements give calendared mesh and mesh core cable resistance to temperature extremes, corrosion and otherwise destructive elements. Additionally, because knitted wire mesh is essentially a complex spring, its compression characteristics and resiliency features give it an inherent resistance to mechanical wear.

KLINGERmetall
When mounting a KLINGERmetal gasket, the screw-force will deform the bead, so a high, specific line-load on the bead will be produced, even with low screw-force. The elastomer-coating will be pressed into the surface roughness of the sealing area: the wanted microsealing in the area of the surface roughness will be achieved.

Particularly adapted to the drug companies and agroalimentary (conformity FDA), the joints "jacket" PTFE are used for all the aggressive processes. They are composed of a heart which confers necessary mechanical qualities to them, and of an envelope PTFE which protects it from corrosion.
The Group Eynard Robin manufactures and distributes:
- the joints jacket PTFE EYRFLON: gone up on metal supports out of glass, graphite, plastic, or covered or vitrified steel (enamel)
- the joints jacket PTFE EYRTEX: especially developed for applications ATEX, they are equipped with a metal leg connected to the mass of the apparatus which avoids the risks of lighting and explosion. This system collects the static electricity generated by the circulation of the product and makes it possible to evacuate the electric potential with the support.
The Group Eynard Robin proposes a broad choice of dimensions, matters and profiles of heart and envelopes.
The joints jacket PTFE EYRFLON and EYRTEX can be used
- in standard and/or severe applications
- in corrosive ambient condition or ultra-aggressive
- on the vacuum
- at temperatures being able to reach until 220°C

The spiral joints are designed especially to withstand strong pressures and to ensure of important levels of sealing and safety. In order to limit crushing to tightening, they can integrate an interior metal ring for the safety of rolling up and an outside for safety and centering of the joint.
The Group Eynard Robin:
- of exclusiveness distributes spiral joints KLINGER: particularly adapted to seal strong pressures in liquid and gas
- manufactures spiral joints EYRFLEX: available in the dimensions standardized IN or ASME, or conceived on plan for the constructed boilers apparatuses or special supports
These products adapt to many operating conditions:
- various possible material combinations (stainless steels, Monel metal, Nickel, Inconel...)
- resistance to temperatures from -200 to +1000 °C
- use with pressures of vacuum up to 430 bar
- all dimensions up to 4 m in diameter and 2,5 to 6,4 mm thickness
They are approved safety fire (API 6FB).
The standard spiral joints claim more tightening than a cut out flexible joint and cannot thus be gone up on weak supports. On the other hand, for these weak supports, of spiral joints LD were developed.
