PUC 24 Process monitoring device for clean rooms
Sensitive measurement technology
Demands for increased quality in nearly every area of industry have led to more and more processes being conducted under clean-room conditions. Ensuring these conditions means monitoring room pressure, temperature and humidity. The new PUC 24 process monitoring device from halstrup-walcher has been specially designed for just such applications.
In essence, the PUC 24 is a differential pressure transducer that utilizes an inductive measurement principle to provide very high resolution of 0.1 Pa at a retest precision of 0.1%. Cyclical self-calibration of the zero point ensures proper measurement stability. The measurement range of ±100 Pa is freely scalable. Also available are inputs for temperature and humidity sensors; these can be set from 0-10 V or from 0/4-20 mA. All measurement values can be clearly read on a graphic LCD. Additional contact outputs are available for separate alarm signals. The device communicates with the master control module via a Profibus. The housing designed for front-flush installation is particularly innovative. Function keys are integrated into a stainless-steel keypad that forms a single smooth surface along the front of the housing. A mounting frame put in place when setting up the clean room makes the PUC 24 easier to install – four screws are all you need. This solution is the product of practical experience and simplifies more than just installation: the simple mounting system makes it possible to remove units quickly and effortlessly for calibration purposes or when switching units to accommodate changes in the process.

The Digital Output pressure sensors are based upon a proprietary surface mapping technology to produce a fully digital output that virtually eliminates all repeatable errors over temperature and pressure. This series provides a 12 bit digital serial output (14 bit in High Resolution Mode) with superior offset, span and linearity characteristics. The output is SPI and MICROWIRE/PLUS® compatible as well as fully compatible with the All Sensors GA142 Series sensors.
In addition to synchronous communications, the Digital Output pressure sensors incorporates a bi-directional, TTL level, asynchronous serial interfaces mode (hardware selectable 9,600 or 19,200 baud). This mode includes a command set that allows the host to interrogate the sensor for model information, pressure range, serial number, pressure units and conversion factor. The command set also allows the host to select a high resolution output mode, make minor adjustments to offset and has an addressable feature that allows multiple sensors to be tied to the same interface buss.
This series is intended for use with non-corrosive, non-ionic working fluids such as air, dry gases and the like. All signals are 5V TTL/CMOS compatible.

Honeywell Sensing and Control's piezoresistive silicon pressure sensors contain sensing elements that consist of four piezoresistors buried in the face of a thin, chemically-etched silicon diaphragm. A pressure change causes the diaphragm to flex, inducing a stress in the diaphragm and the buried resistors. The resistor values change in proportion to the stress applied and produce an electrical output. These sensors are small, low cost and reliable. They feature excellent repeatability, high accuracy and reliability under varying environmental conditions. In addition, they feature highly consistent operating characteristics from one sensor to the next, and interchangeability without recalibration.
Best Used For:
Medical and HVAC devices, data storage and gas chromatography equipment, process controls, industrial machinery, pumps and robotics.
