BONO ARTES developed a innovative solution that matches gravity filtration with self-cleaning operation. The result is a very simple unit with high filtration efficiency and low installation costs that is particularly suitable for cooling water filtration where very large capacities are concerned.
Filtration of raw water is operated by gravity. The operating principle is the hydrostatic level of the water up to the sand layer. The unit is provided with three chambers: one contains the filtration media, one filtered water and another is used for the separation between the filling media and the clarified water storage. Filtered water here contained is used to backwash the filter when the pressure drop reaches the set-point value. Unlike pressure-operated filters requiring pumps and blowers, backwashing is done by gravity and no rotating machinery, spare parts and control equipment (automatic valves, flow-meter, regulating instruments, control panels etc.) are required . Moreover the filter is operated without any supervising personnel.
The benefits of such applications lay in the efficient filtration process, very low operating costs and the advantage of being able to treat large flows of water.

The Electric H2O Closed Loop Filtration System (CL Filter) is a high-pressure media filter, constructed from epoxy-lined carbon steel and designed to remove suspended solids down to 10, 5 and 0.5 microns from closed loop heating and cooling systems. The system is designed to maximize filtration flow and minimize backwash time and volume. As the filtered particulates accumulate on the media bed, the pressure differential across the bed increases. When a pre-determined set point is reached, the self-cleaning automatic citywater backwash cycle is initiated, after which filtration is resumed. The NEMA 4X control panel also incorporates a manual and timed override automatic backwash. Dual electric
actuators and four two-way bronze ball valves prevent any closed loop system water loss during backwash

Simplex Bag Filters PVC / CPVC
Simplex Bag Filters PPL / PVDF
Duplex Bag Filters
Filter Bags
Accept Most Standard Filter Bags:
For application versatility these all plastic housings will accept most standard 7" diameter filter bags. The single length vessel uses Size 01 bags, 7" x 16", while the double length vessel uses Size 02 bags, 7" x 32". This permits the vessel to be used with thousands of different types of filter bags to exactly match the applications requirements. With a Hayward PVC or CPVC bag filter you are not limited to just a few "non-standard" size filter bags.
Advanced Design:
This all plastic housing is designed to stand up to the most demanding industrial and commercial applications around. Rugged, thick wall construction ensures years of trouble free service and the housing is rated at a full 150 PSI. The built-in true union piping and drain connections makes installation and operation quick and easy. With this feature the filter housing can be removed from the piping system without having to break down the piping system. Just unscrew the assembly nut and remove the connecting pipe. The integral mounting base also makes for an easy installation and eliminates the need for extra cost support legs. The housing has two bottom outlet connections so that either can be used as a drain connection. This makes possible both in-line or loop piping installations. The one-piece, corrosion resistant plastic body has an extremely smooth interior surface that is very easy to clean. The housing comes standard with a plastic cover vent valve.
Easy Bag Change:
The hand-removable, no tools required, spin-off cover makes filter bag changing quick and easy. There are no swing bolts to deal with as on a metal filter housing. Just a few turns of the built in 15" cover handle opens and closes the housing with little effort.
Corrosion is Never a Problem:
A metal filter housing will ultimately rust or corrode and contaminate the process media. This can never happen with a Hayward PVC or CPVC all plastic bag filter housing, it will never rust, corrode or contaminate the process media and the housings light weight makes installation easy.

Bag filters have many uses in coolant filtration. They are often used as a pre-filter to remove large solid contaminants that might cause pump problems. They are well suited applications with modest solids loading. Chips and swarf that are porous can fill the bag, providing very efficient filter media use. Bags are a good pick on applications that require the contaminants to be packed in drums for disposal, as the bags collapse and pack easily.
Bag filters have a relatively small surface area, about 4 – 5 sq. ft. in the largest standard housings. Therefore, we do not recommend them where the solids form a thin impervious layer, blinding off coolant flow.

The BHS-Belt Filter can be used for separating sedimenting and abrasive solids from suspensions with little wear. The various filtrates are separated exactly and without intermixing. If required, the filter cake can undergo further treatment in the form of multiple reverseflow washing, suction drying or pressing.

Dual Belt Filters
These are sludge dewatering devices that apply mechanical pressure to a chemically conditioned slurry, which is sandwiched between two tensioned belts, by passing those belts through a serpentine of decreasing diameter rolls. The machine can actually be divided into three zones: gravity zone, where free draining water is drained by gravity through a porous belt; wedge zone, where the solids are prepared for pressure application; and pressure zone, where medium, then high pressure is applied to the conditioned solids.
Typically, a belt filter press receives a slurry ranging from 1 - 4 % feed solids and produces a final product of 12 - 35 % cake solids. Performance depends on the nature of the solids being processed.
Typical Applications:
- Food processing wastes
- Pulp & Paper wastes
- Chemical sludges
- Pharmaceutical wastes
- Industrial waste processing sludges
- Petrochemical wastes

Continuous belt filters Vacuum belt filters
Continuous belt filters are filters without auxiliary filter materials. Various filter fabrics are available for selection depending on the application.

BHS-Candle Filters work intermittently using filter elements arranged vertically in a pressure vessel.
BHS-Candle Filters are used as deep-bed or precoat filters for clarifying liquids with a low solids content. Although the BHS-Candle Filter is used ideally for batch filtration it can also be employed for continuous cycles.
The suspension is filled into the pressure vessel and constantly replenished up by pump. The filter cake builds on the outside of the filter candles, the filtrate being discharged from the inside of the candle through immersed and register pipes. The filter cake can be dried after filtration. A blast of compressed air finally lifts and discharges the cake.

‘Becofil’ Candle Demisters
'Becofil' Candle Demisters, commonly referred to as Candle Filters - are intended primarily for the removal of very fine mist particles of less than 2 microns. A combination of impingement for removing greater than 1-2 microns and diffusion for finer particles where Brownian motion becomes increasingly predominant.
Each filter is composed of millions of fibres, and although the efficiency of each individual fiber is low, the cumulative effect is very high. Low approach velocities are necessary in order not to mask the diffusion velocities associated with Brownian movement. Candle filters are installed vertically and gases pass horizontally through the filter wall, the trapped particles coalescing and draining through the filter bed.
The continuing development of 'Becofil' Candle Demisters coupled with the experience gained from hundreds of applications worldwide, enables Begg Cousland to offer a range of filters to conform to the varying requirements of industry in terms of capacity, pressure loss and mist removal efficiency.
'Becofil' Candle Demisters will help to eliminate visible stack plumes, meet today’s more stringent air pollution regulations and recover more lost products from processes. It will also help to remove pollutants, which may cause corrosion further downstream resulting in costly premature replacement of equipment and maintenance down time.
|
|
Candle filters utilize groups of columnar filter elements sealed within a pressure vessel to produce a cake with dry solids contents as high as 80% and filtrate of extremely high clarity. Filtration is completely contained, making candle filters an ideal choice for processing solvents, concentrated acids and other toxic products.
Typical Applications:
- Pulp and paper (recausticizating)
- Alumina (specialty hydrates)
- Precious metal catalysts
- Filtrate and concentrate polishing
