A DDL motor is basically a rotary motor that is laid out flat and directly coupled to the driven load. With this configuration, all mechanical transmissions, such as ball/lead screws, rack and pinions, belts/pulleys, and gearboxes are eliminated. This in turn eliminates backlash and other problems associated with these mechanical transmissions. DDL designs deliver exceptional high performance, extremely high stiffness, very high dynamic speeds and accelerations, high positional accuracy, higher throughput, compact mechanical assembly, smooth, error-free motion, zero maintenance, and quiet operation.

Linear Sigma Series
Range: 50W - 7.5kW
New speed records are achieved at margins as slim as 1/100 of a second. A finely tuned machine such as a competition bobsled can reach its peak speeds only when the driver's steering, weight shifting and other critical motion tasks are optimized during the trials.
Yaskawa Electric continuously challenges the performance barrier with the Linear Sigma Direct Drive Servomotor products to improve the speeds and accuracies of your machines. Backed by the company's rich technological expertise in the advanced rotary servo drive products, the Linear Sigma Direct Drive Servomotors will take your machine performance to the next level into the new Millennium. The Yaskawa Linear Sigma Direct Drive Servomotors are in use to improve the reliability, speed and accuracy performance in semiconductor / LCD panel production machinery, SMD placement systems as well as virtually all types of general automation applications.

FHA-C mini Series Servo Actuators, combining precision Harmonic Drive gearing with AC servo motors, offer unique features unsurpassed by conventionally geared drives. Used in highly demanding industrial servo systems they provide precision motion control and high torque capacity in a very compact package.
Sine-commutated AC servo motors provide smooth torque without the brush wear or commutation limit associates with DC servo actuators. Encoder, mounted directly onto the motor shaft, provide position feedback information. The backlash-free Harmonic Drive gear is provided with grease lubrication specially developed to ensure minimum maintenance requirements and long service life.
The fully digital SC-610 Series Controllers are available for the control of these Servo Actuators. A menu driven setup software running under MS-Windows allows a comfortable parameter optimisation and system diagnosis.

Our AC synchronous servomotors have a very high power density and enable highly dynamic positioning drives with an excellent price/performance ratio. For maximum flexibility, the servomotors are compatible with the standard servo connection dimensions. The AC synchronous servomotors are equipped with an absolute sensor system: SinCos® Singleturn (SRS, SKS) or SinCos® Multiturn (SRM, SKM). The encoder system with the Hiperface® interface enables auto-initialisation of the motor and current controller parameters. This greatly simplifies the commissioning procedure of the drive system.

Distributed Drive Technology
Modern machine construction concepts require intelligent automation systems. Control tasks need no longer be carried out by a central control system, but can also be handled locally. Distributed configurations in automation technology contribute greatly towards improving installation and service efficiency. With SIMODRIVE POSMO A, SIMODRIVE POSMO SI and SIMODRIVE POSMO CD/CA, control and drive tasks can now be implemented as independent modular functional units directly on site.
Consistent use of distributed systems transfers the drive technology from the control cabinet directly to the machines. The user benefits from a consequent reduction in infrastructure requirements and from lower system costs.
Distributed drives offer the following features:
- Complete solutions "without control cabinet" through "local" installation of the drives.
- Fast machine installation through the assembly of a complete functional unit.
- Low installation costs through a universal power and signal bus
