Function of a Damper
The damper is a hydraulic damping element and consists of a pressure tube with a connection fitting, a piston rod with piston system and a piston rod connection fitting. The piston rod is mounted in a special seal-guide system in the pressure tube. The piston rod in the pressure tube features a damping piston and the related valve system. The movement of the piston displaces the filling medium (oil), which is pressed through the valve system and thus produces the damping force.
Dampers are needed to influence the nature of movements and vibrations. Dampers are designed to optimally match the particular application.
Vibration dampening for steering systems, engines, automatic trailer brakes, washing machines, seats, two-wheelers and other applications.

Damping Engineering

Used to slow travel speeds before reaching the final position. An extensive
range of sizes in both single and bi-directional configurations is available with variable damping.
High-Performance dampers
These dampers will slow heavy fast moving objects in a short distance - used mainly in machine manufacture.
Oil dampers with fixings on both ends
These dampers are attached to the object at both ends by eyelets or other end fittings and provide constant damping throughout their stroke. These dampers are available preset or with variable damping force.
The oil dampers are manufactured custom-made, in single units as well as large batches. The Dictator engineering service calculates the oil damper you need, this calculation being included in our service.
Radial dampers
These variable force dampers provide constant speed control for heavy objects over long travel distances and are particularly suitable to control sliding doors.

Stacker Crane Shock Absorbers SCS-38 to 63
ACE Stacker Crane Shock Absorbers (SCS Series) are designed primarily for emergency applications to improve the performance and safe operation of equipment such as automated storage and retrieval systems. During normal operation, the shock absorbers are required to provide only minimal resistance, but are designed to function under full load conditions when necessar y. In an emergency condition, when the velocity of the system carriage or trolley is greater than normal, the SCS shock absorber responds to protect the installation by providing controlled deceleration.
In the nor mal ready condition the piston rod is fully extended. When the impacting load strikes the absorber, the hydraulic oil behind the piston is forced out through a series of metering orifices. The number of metering or ifices in action reduces propor tionally through the stroke and the load velocity is thereby smoothly reduced to zero. The inter nal pressure and thus the reaction force remains
constant throughout the entire stroke length. The displaced oil is stored in the bladder accumulator. The integrated gas chamber, containing low pressure nitrogen, provides the retur n force to reset the rod to its extended position and functions as an accumulator for the hydraulic oil displaced during operation.
Applications include: automated storage and retr ieval systems, automotive manufacturing and production equipment, theme park rides, and small overhead cranes. |
