Double E carbon fiber expanding shafts are lightweight alternatives to heavy steel or aluminum shafts. These shafts provide the following benefits:
Carbon fiber housing provides the strength of steel at a fraction of the weight.
Housing sleeved in metal to protect against abrasion.
Special corded polyprene bladder expands with air to grip core ID. Robust bladder material reduces bladder failure and minimizes maintenance.
Deep journal insertion and a close tolerance fit ensure easy access when necessary.
Comprehensive two year warranty even includes bladder. |
|
| DX type expanding shafts are made of aluminium with an extruded profile or may optionally be made of steel or ERGAL, a special aluminium alloy which allows a 30% approximately increase in the shaft's capacity without increasing its weight. |

Cross Shaft Clamping Elements, by means of frictional forces, provide connection of all types of transmission equipment to their respective shafts, enabling transmission of both torque and axial thrust loads. Precision tapered thrust cones within the clamping elements create high pressure between shaft and hub to securely fasten pulleys, sprockets, gears etc. Stresses in both hub and shaft are similar to heavy press fits, however, the actual stresses are easy to calculate; and the hub can always be easily dismantled without damage to it or the shaft; only a torque wrench being required for both assembly and disassembly.
Precision transmission of torque with no backlash is obtained with shaft clamping elements, without the need of tight manufacturing tolerances of mating components. Simplified designs can enable manufacturing cost reductions, coupled with easy assembly and disassembly.
Cross Shaft Clamping Elements provide an alternative method of connecting hubs to shafts to:-
Tapered Bushes, Hydraulic Clamping Systems, Fine-bored Hubs, with Precision keyways & Locking Setscrews ,Heavy Press Fits & Welded Components.
The following types are available:-
RCK 15 - RCK 13 - RCK 16 - RCK 70 - RCK 71 - RCK 80 - ACE 81 - RCK 61 -
ACE 54 - CCE 55 - RCK 40 - RCK 45 - RCK 11 - RCK 50 - RCK 19 - RCK 95

| Rotation is transmitted through a central disc that slides over the tenons on the hubs under controlled preload conditions to eliminate backlash. Discs and hubs are available in different materials and configurations to suit different applications. These couplings provide generous radial compensation and easy maintenance. |

For more than 25 years we have successfully been supplying shaft couplings for ships and other non-positive shaft couplings in various designs for the construction of motors and gearboxes and plant engineering. Our range includes designs with shaft diameters of up to 250 mm. Our customers benefit from the many years of experience in this field.
Rigid couplings from WEISS are available as sleeve couplings and flange couplings, both in a steel or saltwater- proof design. In addition, we also offer flywheel flanges as joining elements for diesel engines. |

ETP has, through the development of ETP-OCTOPUS, explored the many positive qualities of their hydraulic hub-shaft connections. The most important features are compact design, quick locking, accurate positioning and good runout. The joint should not damage the contact surfaces and must be easy to dismantle.
ETP-OCTOPUS builds on the same principle, but the pressure setting is done with the help of an external pressure source separate from the clamping joint. This makes the pressure setting extremely fast and makes it possible to pressurize several joints simultaneously and remotely.
ETP-OCTOPUS is available in three models C, O and F. Special types are made on customers request.

The scientist Blaise Pascal formulated the principle of pressure propagation in liquids many years ago:
”A liquid confined in a vessel which is subjected to pressure distributes the pressure uniformly upon the walls of the vessel. ”
ETP has explored the many positive qualities in this principle, developed it further and applied it to the hub-shaft connections.
”A hydraulic pressure medium confined in a double-walled sleeve is pressurized (with screws/pistons or with an external pump). The pressure is distributed evenly along and around hub/shaft. The double-walled sleeve expands uniformly and gives an even contact pressure against shaft and hub ”.
The ETP-Principle works because of the hydraulic system: compact design, fast mounting, easy to position, good runout, does not damage the contact surfaces and is easy to dismantle. These qualities are important today and will be even more important in the future.
With increasing requirements on down sizing the machines, better runout/balance, increased machine speeds, shorter downtime for service and increased precision, is why the ETP hydraulic hub-shaft connections are choosen for more and more designs.

ETP-HYLOC, due to its robust design, is ideally suited to work in difficult environments and heavy operations like steel rolling mills, process industry etc. An interesting application, among many, has been fastening of rolls to shafts. ETP-HYLOC is fast to mount, has good concentricity and can take high radial loads.

ETP Transmission AB is specialized in development and manufacturing of high precision hydraulic locking devices.
A new hydraulic hub-shaft connection assortment of the more common ETP-Products are now introduced in stainless steel.
The demand from the food and process industries is increasing for stainless steel hub-shaft connections, surface coatings and plating are no longer sufficient.
The three most common types of the ETP-Products, ETP-CLASSIC, ETP-MINI and ETP-EXPRESS, are now available as standard items.
ETP-CLASSIC Type R, recommended for all normal needs.
For shaft sizes from 15 to 50 mm.
ETP-MINI Type R, for small shafts with sizes from 6 to 14 mm.
ETP-EXPRESS Type R, especially suitable for applications where adjustments
of the hub are made frequently or because of the need for radial access.
For shaft sizes from 15 to 50 mm
All surfaces exposed to the environment are made of stainless steel. In for example food processing this meets essential requirements.
Choose, for your application, the optimum hub-shaft connection in stainless steel
from ETP.
