SPECORD series - wavelengths ahead
- Variable slit width
- Fixed slit
- Monochromator or diode array spectrometers
- Stand alone-versions or PC-system
Analytik Jena is the only manufacturer in the world to offer a long-term warranty of 10 years on all optical components.
The devices stand for excellent wavelength accuracy and reproducibility thanks to an internal holmium oxide filter for automatic wavelength calibration, through special registration options (step/scan modes), through self-adjustment of photometric linearity and automatic stray light correction.
Best analytical performance, thanks to an optimal signal/noise ratio, short measurement times, very low detection limit, very high short-term and long-term stability, minimum run-in phase in association with the powerful software and an extensive range of accessories.
Spectral scans at up to 6000 nm/min, time-resolved measurements of single and multiple wavelengths, as well as stepping operation in the spectral range from 190 to 1100 nm are standard features. To further reduce the stray background, all scanning spectral photometers offer a second sample position for turbid samples as a standard feature.
The devices easily conform to numerous international standards, such as Ph.Eur., USP or JPXIII.

With the BioPhotometer plus, Eppendorf offers a compact UV/Vis photometer for use in molecular biology, biochemistry and cell biology.
The photometer provides instant, out-of-the-box access to 32 routine methods, of which 9 methods are freely programmable, e. g.:
* Measurement of DNA, RNA and protein concentration (UV and colorimetric)
* Incorporation rate of fluorescent molecules (550 nm/650 nm), e. g., for microarray experiments
* Enzymatic assays (e.g., peroxidase, alkaline phosphatase, ß-galactosidase)
* Optical density of cells (OD 600)
Both measurement and calculation of results are performed at the press of a button, and the results of the analysis, as well as all accompanying data, are available at a glance. This guarantees safe, error-free operation and reliable results.
In addition to its low weight, the photometer is small, yet extremely sturdy due to a robust metal housing, which allows for easy transport and cleaning.
The BioPhotometer plus is designed for use with cuvettes such as the Eppendorf UVette®, but is also optimized for measurement of small volumes through the use of microliter cells such as Hellma® TrayCell.
The new BioPhotometer data transfer software can now be used to transfer all measurement and calibration data to a PC. Besides enabling the printing of results it also allows results to be exported to data processing software for further evaluation. The program also offers the option of data archiving, which can be clearly configured with an optional user administration.

The Thermo Scientific NanoDropTM 8000 Spectrophotometer enables highly accurate UV/Vis analyses of 1 ul samples, up to 8 at a time. Like the popular Thermo Scientific NanoDropTM 1000 Spectrophotometer, the NanoDrop 8000 utilizes a patented sample retention system that eliminates the need for cuvettes and capillaries. In addition, the high absorbance capability eliminates the need for dilutions in most cases. The user simply loads up to 8 samples (using an 8-channel pipette) and the instrument measures all 8 samples in less than 20 seconds - and cleaning simply requires wiping with an ordinary lab wipe.
The NanoDrop 8000 also comes with a Sample Position Illuminator feature that allows the user to select which well(s) are to be loaded if using a 96-well plate. The selection is done from an on-screen graphical interface and the corresponding well(s) on the plate are illuminated to facilitate the loading process. The software allows for an "auto advance" capability while loading, "cherry picking" well(s) to be illuminated, and setting Out of Range concentration or absorbance limits to be flagged.
