Self Cooled electrospindle: what does it mean?
It means that OMLAT has studied and realized a new product starting from the electrospindles of the world known and world appreciated Delat line and adding a very important innovation.
there is no cooling system for the electric motor of the electrospindle, neither water cooling nor air cooling. This type of electrospindle can be installed and used very easily and it suited for applications where the working cycles must not be very long, even if the electrospindle is used for 24 hours per day.
The internal structure of this new product is the same as the strusture of the water cooled DELTA electrospindles, but it is equipped with a special electric motor that is proper for this use. thanks to the combination of these characteristics OMLAT has created a new type of electrospindle that is cheap and can be easily used, but at the same time it maintains the power, the speed and the reliability of all OMLAT products. |

In 2004 OMLAT spa studied and realised several electric spindle applications for grinding, with the technical characteristic of having hydrostatic bushes instead of ball bearings.
This concept (an oil cushion with approx. 60 bar pressure) makes it possible to obtain a dynamic rigidity that is more than three times that obtained with the mechanical solution (ball bearings) and consequently guarantees a very high quality finish.
These spindles have been constructed for tangential grinding machines, for the large size bearings sector and for the rolling cylinder grinding sector.
Both asynchronous and synchronous motors have been used able to fully meet the project requirements regarding performance (power and rotation speed), together with a very low vibration level, appropriate for high-precision machining.
With the high rigidity obtained by this system, last generation tools can be used to full advantage, ensuring the best output and long life.
Here we indicate the speed range of the hydrostatic electrospindles.

Thanks to their separating oil film, WEISS motor spindles with plain bearings ensure uniform machining quality over an extremely long period, in addition to maximum precision and extremely long service lives. We are currently offering an undisputed technological lead in geared motor spindles for turning and milling at high torques. Geared motor spindles for milling are primarily used for heavy-duty machining, the machining of titanium and in shipbuilding.
Geared spindles have smaller rotating masses compared to existing assemblies with an external drive and run more quietly and with less vibration. Comparatively good machining standards are achieved for planing. While maintaining the radial dimensions and motor performance, the usable torque of the motor can be increased 4-fold. This allows considerable expansion of the machining range of a machine, particularly for rough-machining, i.e. more machining tasks can be performed with different cutting speeds (different materials) with small and larger tools. |
