Rings & Bushing
Manufacturing a customized seal ring in link with specifications, and machining it to the required degree of flatness are not major engineering challenges. The problem is that the ring must remain flat to function regardless of application and environment. Wear resistance, toughness, corrosion resistance, and resistance to thermal shocks are the key material properties required for long-lasting, all-perfect pump function.
The unique combination of all these material characteristics has made cemented carbide the most widely used material in pump seals and bearing in the sewage, mining and process sectors. Moreover, there is further potential to tailor cemented carbide for a vast range of environment applications.
Cemented carbide can be made harder than the hardest steel, but yet remain tougher then ceramics.
Sandvik grades offer a complete set of properties
- Excellent hardness / toughness compromise guarantees outstanding wear, erosion and shock resistance.
- Robust surfaces
- Low friction coefficient and high mechanical strength.
- High thermal conductivity and superior thermal resistance.
- Resistant to handling and easy to assemble
- Sandvik grades support brazing, mechanical assembling, shrink fitting, press fitting and gluing.

Metal-O-rings and C-rings for extreme operating conditions
From ultrahigh vacuum up to 6800 bar (100000 psi) pressure and temperatures from -269°C cryogenic up to +980°C (-425°F up to 1800°F).
Resistant to chemicals to a large extent.
GFD metal O-rings have been developed as a secure sealing of gases and liquids. They even can be used in case of extreme conditions. These static and metallic sealing elements can be applied in ranges of ultrahigh vacuum and up to a pressure of 6800 bar. They are suitable in case of continous temperatures from 269 degrees centigrade below zero up to 980 degrees centigrade above zero and resistant to radioactive radiation, chlorides, corrosion and other aggressive influences. They neither age in use or during storage.
Advantages:
With conventional flanged joints many technical data, from which only very few are precisely available during the design state, have to be known for the calculation. Also the values for the rigidity of the flange, the screws etc. have to be available. The consequence are extensive calculations with imprecise or assumed values and the involved disadvantages. There is always a defined initial tension, no setting and smaller flange and screw dimensions with the GFD metal-O-rings or lip seals. The proof has not to be furnished with complicated and difficult calculations about unknown quantities but simply by adding the forces of pressure to the operating pressures.

The requirement for low coefficients of friction, less than .08, temperatures ranging from -300F to +550F, pressures in excess of 5000 psi, the need to seal a corrosive acid .....These are the typical kinds of factors that tell you that an elastomeric seal probably wont fit your application.
Seal Science PTFE or Teflon® Seals and Seal Science Perflex perfluoroelastomer are often the answer. Possibly something as simple as a PTFE O-Ring, or a PTFE compound cap to protect the elastomer will do. Or maybe, spring energized PTFE U-Cups, like those in our Polyspring line might be needed.

Conceived to obtain an excellent level of sealing whatever the pressure level or temperature, the O rings are used in all the fields of industry, in static and dynamic application. It is the integration of a ring with circular section (torus) in a throat dimensioned according to the diameter of the joint which ensures the perfect sealing of the product.
O rings PTFE require a weak tightening torque and adapt to a large range of operating conditions:
- resistance to temperatures of - 200 to + 260 °C
- adaptation to all the aggressive chemical fluids, with cryogenics, the vacuum and the gas
- diameters available from 1 to 12 mm according to the standards
- various materials of composition: rubber, materials plastic or various metals.
Available out of PTFE, silicone, Viton®, EPDM, nitrile, fluorocarbon, chloroprene, perflouélastomère, the Group Eynard Robin also proposes a broad range of O rings metal or covered out of alloy nickel, stainless steel or hastelloy (EYTOR and EYCAP).

General Information
HTMS Metal- O-Ring seals are made from high precision metal tube. Contrary to flat gaskets, HTMS Metal-O- Rings require extreme low bolting load. Because they feature a certain resiliency or spring back, HTMS Metal O Rings will compensate minor flange rotation and maintain positive sealing load to the sealing surface.
For sealing thin gas or low viscosity fluids, HTMS recommend to soft plate the bare metal seal with such materials as silver, gold or tin. Also PTFE as a coating is available.
HTMS Metal O Rings are made for internal or external pressure. For high pressure application HTMS advises vented or system pressure assisted Metal O Rings.
For extreme low leakage requirements at elevated temperatures HTMS also produces spring energized metal O Rings. This “OS” design is basically a metal O Ring with an inserted high tensile spring.
Metal O Ring availability
- From 6 mm to +3000 mm diameter
- Cross section from 0, 89 mm to 12, 7 mm
- In house plating, Silver, Gold, Tin and others
- Spring energized versions for extreme tightness
- Available in shaped forms
- For internal or external pressure
Metal O-Rings capability
- Temperatures from cryogenic (- 270°C) up to high temperatures (+ 900°C)
- Ultra hard vacuum and pressures op to +300Mpa

The metallic ring joint gaskets are manufactured according to the API 6A and ASME B16.20 standards for application at elevated temperatures and pressures. The small sealing area with high contact pressure results in great reliability. The contact surfaces of the gaskets and flange should be carefully processed. Some types of ring-joints are pressure activated, that is, the greater the pressure the better the sealability.
Advantages
* The metal ring joint gaskets have been designed to withstand exceptionally high assembly loads over a small area, thus producing high seating stresses.
Shape and construction
The DONIT TESNIT® ring joint gaskets are produced in several shapes and sizes to meet the most demanding applications.

All SENTINEL® Filter Bags utilize the patented SENTINEL® seal. It's all plastic, polypropylene, polyester or Santoprene® construction, provides a flexible, chemically resistant seal which adapts to any filter housing. This unique design employs a pressure activated sealing lip which responds to increases in differential pressure. As the pressure increases, the seal of the ring improves, insuring by-pass free performance over all ranges of pressure, temperature and micron rating. The elevated bag handles make removal of the bag from the vessel quick and easy. When a SENTINEL® Filter Bag is installed into an Eaton Filtration Housing, the ring snaps into place, holding its position until the housing is closed.

General Information
HTMS Metal- C-Ring seals are made from high temperature alloy strip. The strip is cut to the required length and tig welded. The C-shape is then formed in a tool or is roll formed for bigger sizes. HTMS Metal C Rings are a logical development over our popular Metal O Ring. Metal C Rings have a better spring back then same size Metal O Rings. The seating load or the required bolting force is lower than for similar sized Metal O Rings. HTMS Metal C Rings will compensate greater flange rotation and maintain positive sealing load, better than Metal O Rings.
For sealing thin gas or low viscosity fluids, HTMS recommend to soft plate the bare metal seal with such materials as silver, gold or tin. Also PTFE as a coating is available.
For extreme low leakage requirements at elevated temperatures HTMS also produces spring energized metal C Rings. This “CS” design is basically a metal C Ring with an inserted high tensile spring.
