EEA001 Enhanced micro-stepping controller of 2 phase stepping motors drives.
The ASIC EEA001 is a complete controller of enhanced, high performance, drives for stepping motors integrating the functions of sequencer and power stages control and protection against overcurrent,over & under-voltage, over-temperature. Mastered by the standard step motor drive's controls (Step, Direction, Enable) it ensures the highest motor's performances through the execution of Micro-stepping movements at high step resolution (up to 1/256) permitted by no odd harmonics sinusoidally shaped winding currents (Maximum step frequency: 2,56 MHz). The ASIC also allows to set a smoothing factor to optimize the drive and motor performances in terms of:
- high speed and torque at shaft - low heating of the drive
- no vibrations - low heating of the motor
- no resonances - very low mechanical noise
Designed to manage two power-stages configured as "H-bridge" working in bipolar chopper mode, the ASIC features a switching frequency of 33 kHz and a circuitry interfacing the drive's power stages designed to offer the widest compatibility with the most popular integrated circuits for MOSFET and IGBT gates driving, being compatible with most of cheap monolithic power circuits too.
ASIC's set up inputs can fit for drive's end user application step angle and phase current, activating the optional automatic current reduction at standstill, of the motor, and several optional drive operating modes such as CLK_UP/CLK_DWN, inputs active edge and Enable input polarity.

TMCM-013-42
Description
1-axis stepper driver 1.1A/30V (step/dir.), motor mountable
The TMCM-013-42 is a step / direction stepper motor driver for integration directly on a 42mm / NEMA-17 motor. The TMCM-013-42-LA supports 42mm / NEMA-17 linear actuators. The parameters like motor current and µStep resolution can be changed easily using the RS-485 interface with an ASCII protocol (e.g. with Hyperterminal). Also the firmware of the module can be updated via the serial interface. All settings are stored in an internal EEPROM, so that no bus-system is required in the application. The module is fully protected and comes with a stand-alone reference search feature, using the integrated reference switch input or StallGuard?.
The module can be used in Step-Direction mode, remote controlled via a RS485 interface, or even as an option in a pseudo DC motor mode.
The possibility to adjust the micro step resolution delivers either very high accuracy or high speed.

TMC428
Description
3-axis economic miniature microstepping stepper motion controller
The TMC428 is a miniaturized low cost, but high performance stepper motor controller for up to three motors. It integrates all real time critical tasks in reliable, dedicated hardware: An integrated motion ramp profile generator as well as an adaptable microstep sequencer with microstep RAM table. Advanced stop- and reference switch handling allows for precise and fast referencing as well as on-the-fly position checking. Automatic motor current control gives high motor dynamics while saving energy. The interrupt output can generate precise position pulses.
The TMC428 connects to the TRINAMICs SPI™ drivers (TMC236,TMC239,TMC246 and TMC249) or to Step-/direction drivers. A second SPI™ interface allows communication with a host microcontroller. The host microcontroller just needs to do high-level control tasks, e.g. giving the command: Drive motor 2 to position 1000. The TMC428 then automatically calculates the motion ramp based on velocity and acceleration parameters.
The TMC423 adds encoder functionality as well as step- direction impulse forming to the TMC428. Evaluation Boards, application notes, spreadsheets for parameter calculation, C code examples and schematics are available in order to support short design-in times.
TMC 428 - The small but intelligent Controller:
* Miniaturized low-cost 3 axes motor controller
* High-performance micro stepping
* SPI interface with easy-to-use protocol
* On-the-fly alteration of position set point

TMC454
Description
1-axis stepper motion controller with S-ramps and encoder feedback
The TMC454 is the direct successor of the TMC453 and is 100% software compatible.
The TMC454 is a high-end motor controller for all common 2-, 3-, and 5-phase stepper motors. It provides encoder feedback for high reliability or high position resolution drives. A large set of motion control features is included on this IC. The various function blocks are hardwired and „ready-to-use“. All processes can be serialized using the instruction based interface. A complete linear & S-shaped ramp generation unit is integrated within the TMC454. All dynamic parameters can be adjusted for a given application in a very broad range. The CPU is relieved from all time critical tasks like ramp calculation or microstep generation. Thus CPU and software engineer can focus on higher level motion control
jobs. In many applications, the TMC454 reduces the time time-to-market, and it saves costs for software development and hardware engineering. The TMC454 turns stepper motors into easy to use peripherals!
The TMC454 is upwards function compatible to its predecessor TMC453.

Distributed Drive Technology
Modern machine construction concepts require intelligent automation systems. Control tasks need no longer be carried out by a central control system, but can also be handled locally. Distributed configurations in automation technology contribute greatly towards improving installation and service efficiency. With SIMODRIVE POSMO A, SIMODRIVE POSMO SI and SIMODRIVE POSMO CD/CA, control and drive tasks can now be implemented as independent modular functional units directly on site.
Consistent use of distributed systems transfers the drive technology from the control cabinet directly to the machines. The user benefits from a consequent reduction in infrastructure requirements and from lower system costs.
Distributed drives offer the following features:
- Complete solutions "without control cabinet" through "local" installation of the drives.
- Fast machine installation through the assembly of a complete functional unit.
- Low installation costs through a universal power and signal bus
