The Kardex Sentinel is based upon the proven technology of the Kardex Megamat vertical carousels and has been designed for the storage and retrieval of all types of products including tooling, industrial and commercial consumables. Wherever there is a need to have total control over the issuing of fast moving, high value and mission critical stock then the features offered by the Kardex Sentinel will come into their own.
Physical control of stock is managed by a series of closing doors across the picking face, which ensure that only the correct operator can pick the correct stock item. Full integration with inventory software further ensures that all transactions have a full audit trail identifying exactly who used what component, at what time, and against which works order number. The height of each of the door openings is fully adjustable. When exceptionally bulky goods are to be handled, up to 5 doors open simultaneously.
Full integration with stock management software ensures complete control over all stock operations. The release of the item will only take place with the accurate identification of the user. Separate closing doors reliably disable the access areas and prevent unauthorised access.

This system is formed by a central aisle along which a stacker crane travels. Two racks, built at either side, are used to store boxes or trays. The picking and handling area is formed by conveyors and is positioned at one end or at the side of the racking. Here, the stacker crane deposits the load extracted from the rack. The conveyors then take the box to the operator and once the job has been completed, the box is returned to the stacker crane which then places it back in the racking. The whole system is controlled by a warehouse management programme which registers the location of all the materials in the warehouse and keeps an inventory in real time.
These warehouses can be double or single depth. Double-depth warehouses enable storage of two levels deep in each location, which is ideal for companies that seek a balance between storage capacity and rapid handling.

The need to maximise the surface area in warehouses has led to the development of stacker cranes, designed to work in very narrow aisles and at heights above 30 metres.
Their vertical and horizontal speed and their automated operation triple the capacity of pallet extraction and handling.
The stacker cranes are guided by a profile fitted on the racks above the crane and by a rail anchored to the floor.
The racks can be double- or single-depth. Double-depth racking enables two levels of storage depth in each storage space, thus maximising capacity.

It can be more than 42 ft long and can store 6458sq.ft. of material covering a surface of just 613 sq.ft. It can work by single pick bays, by superimposed bays, positioned on the machine front or back side. It is provided with a local console allowing the optimization of the picking activities and a visual display of the diagnostic system information. The interface with the company host is made easy. It's a perfect solution to automate the picking and restocking phases in shops, laboratories, and in all environments where the ceiling height available is limited.
