PROFIBUS DP Redundancy Switch – The optimal solution for a safe PROFIBUS DP Master redundancy concept PRS provides switch over of the PROFIBUS line between two identical DP Masters. This avoids any galvanic contact between the DP Masters, they can therefore be configured with identical PROFIBUS addresses, making Multi Master mode unnecessary and excludes double address conflict.
PRS is a compact 24 Volt hat rail module containing the switching logic as well as an intelligent double DP Slave. The device allows the connection of two DP Masters and the PROFIBUS connection to the DP Slaves. The Switch controls the status of the operational DP Master system on the PROFIBUS protocol and application level.
In case of failure of the operational Master PRS physically switches over to the stand-by Master, which seamlessly takes over the DP Slaves.
In contrast to the established Flying Master principle a double address conflict cannot occur with PRS, even if the failed DP Master is still active on the PROFIBUS level.
PRS provides the DP Masters with important information about the redundancy operation, i.e. the alive state of the complementary system, it also allows the execution of a switch-over command. The device can be used in very complex redundancy systems, i.e. in connection with PROFIBUS OPC servers or overlying Ethernet based cell networks. Furthermore PRS can be controlled via both integrated Ethernet connections if direct control via the PROFIBUS is not possible.
There is no single point of failure with the PRS because if the device does develop a fault the Master to Slave communication would continue without interrupted.

Piezoelectric actuators can be used to move microoptical components, such as optical fibers and microprisms of these components. This application is not only for laboratory adjustment of these components, but also for the creation of special products in the field of optical communication, optical
data storage and metrology.
On the base of the combination of piezoelectric actuators with different microoptical components piezosystem jena has already developed a broad spectrum of systems for different applications:
1 x N switches for singlemode fibers for optical communication, data storage, optical measurements
1 x N switches for multimode fibers for optical measurements (especially spectroscopy) and multi-point sensor systems
Variable optical attenuators for optical communication
Custom made solutions
Piezoelectrically driven switches and modulators have several inherent advantages compared to other electromechanically driven systems:
High switching speed - down to submillisecond region
Compactness and stability, low power consumption
Excellent optical parameters
The best way for the switching optical fibers is the direct movement of the optical fibers with respect to each other. Piezoelectric actuators are ideal candidates for this purpose due to their typical movement ranges and actuation speed. In order to exclude the influences of hysteresis and creep on the accuracy of such a switch, the actuator end positions can be fixed by special stopping configurations.
In the case of multimode fibers, the required accuracy (10 microns or more depending on the fiber core diameter) can be achieved by different approaches of precision engineering. For singlemode fibers, however, this approach is not very appropriate.

Featuring 1000Mbps speeds, Power over Ethernet and wide temperature
Features
Gigabit Speeds (400 and 600 series)
PoE (EIRP series)
Rugged IP30 DIN/Panel Mount Metal Case
Dual Power Inputs with Alarm Output
Wide Temperature Rating on - T models
Gigabit
B&B Electronics' line of unmanaged (EIR400 series) and managed (EIR600 series) Ethernet switches address applications requiring Gigabit (1000Base) Ethernet. All of these switches are DIN or panel mountable and accommodate two power inputs along with an Alarm Relay Output. The - T models are wide temperature rated at -40 to 75ºC. For added flexibility and future expansion options, many models support a dual function port, where the copper Ethernet and SFP ports are shared. The wide range power input on these models makes each switch suitable for a variety of applications.
PoE (IEEE 802.3af)-EIRP models only
Power is transmitted over the Ethernet cable along with the data lines. Each PoE switch has a set of ports that is classified as power source equipment (PSE). These ports can be used to power IEEE 802.3af compliant powered devices (PD), eliminating the need for a separate power line to be run to each end device. A whole new set of applications become feasible with PoE switches due to reduced installation costs through ease of setup and the ability to remotely power end devices. The PoE ports on these switches follow Alternative A standards and are limited to 15.4 Watts of power output per port. These switches require a 48VDC power supply.

The AR8216 is designed to support a wide array of cost-sensitive wired and wireless networking applications and targets mainstream 802.11n and 802.11g wireless router and gateway platforms. The AR8216 offers design flexibility with its 6-port configuration consisting of five 10/100 Ethernet PHY ports, one MII port for CPU connectivity and six independent Media Access Controllers (MACs).
The AR8216 offers high levels of integration with the industry’s smallest footprint achieved through a significantly reduced number of system components in a compact 10mm x 10mm, low-profile quad flat package (LQFP). As a result, it delivers the industry’s lowest RBOM, optimized design flexibility and increased cost savings.
To provide non-blocking switching performance in all traffic environments, the AR8216 supports an advanced QoS architecture. This unique Atheros-designed architecture prioritizes switch traffic for different classes of applications, such as voice traffic for IP phones, video traffic for multimedia and data traffic for e-mail.
With the launch of this high-performance, low-cost Ethernet switch
solution, Atheros now provides its networking customers with all
of the major silicon required for complete wire-to-wireless router
solutions

Here the focus is on the requirement for the system provider to offer integrated solutions. Let us take for example the subject of Industrial Ethernet Networking: alongside the infrastructure elements such as switches and gateways Lütze also offers integrated solutions for cabling of the network. Lütze can supply all the necessary products, from Ethernet cables suitable for use in C-tracks to hubs and switches that can be mounted on DIN rails. This expertise is mirrored again in the application examples that overlap more than one industrial area.
So, for example, Lütze switches can be found just as easily in the semiconductor industry as in the harsh environment of railway vehicles. The list includes further applications in the textile and packaging machine industries.
The DIOPC serves as an intelligent gateway between the popular types of field bus and the Ethernet. A typical example is in greenhouse management where the DIOPC collects and controls signals from up to 10,000 inputs/outputs covering a wide variety of parameters including temperature, air humidity, CO2 content of the air, brightness, humidity of the earth and the condition of the plant fertiliser.

Ethernet, the world's best-known and most widespread network technology, is becoming increasingly popular for industrial applications as well. No other infrastructure offers such continuity from the office PC right to the machine, as well as allowing remote maintenance, secure web access and many more features.
The advantages are obvious:
optimum interoperability with office applications
consistent technology
simple procurement thanks to the interoperability between products from different suppliers
use of existing IT expertise
TCP/IP standard enables Web interfaces for maintenance and set up
higher bandwidth than customary fieldbuses
guaranteed future thanks to IEEE 802.3 conformity
