Command devices are of great importance for the man-machine interface in the area of industrial applications. For example, they are mounted in switch-boards, control panels, two-hand control panels, in lift manufacture and on materials-handling plants, including conveyors. Manual actuation of the devices starts operating sequences and functional processes or serves to bring these to an end.
Emergency Stop command devices are generally connected in the safety circuit of a machine or plant and are of particular importance in terms of the control system for these. In case of a fault or accident, the secure function and quick accessibllity of Emergency Stop command devices can be crucial for saving life, limiting the degree of injury to personnel or the extent of damage to a machine.
New requirements are placed on the mode of operation of these command devices by the new harmonised European Standard EN 418 regarding functional aspects and recommendations for the arrangement of Emergency Stop equipment.

Non-contact safety switches provide considerable advantages where tough ambient conditions apply. They are also especially suitable for use on imprecisely controlled safety equipment. Non-contact EUCHNER safety switches operate on the basis of clearly coded actuators. Manipulation of an actuator is thus impossible. Supply voltage and data transfer to the coded actuator are realized by means of a non-contact inductive read head. A monitoring output is additionally available for the safety outputs. Through the redundant design of the evaluating device, the safety switch can be used for the highest safety requirements up to control category 4 according to EN 954-1.

Pizzato Elettrica has designed and patented new accessories to install the rope of safety switches faster and to obtain an aesthetically more pleasant system.
The new accessories, in comparison with the traditional fixing system through carpentry material, have the following advantages:
%u2022 The installation is faster because only one screw is used for the fastening of every rope extremity, and the parts are prepared to ease the installation. Some practical tests have pointed out that the installation time is halved, reason for which it is named FAST.
%u2022 The system is aesthetically pleasant, because thread parts (which sometimes tear operators%u2019 dresses) and the rope extremities, usually fixed by heat-shrinkable sheath or adhesive tape, have been hidden.
%u2022 The red plastic covers of the fixing parts have been developed also for the function of controlling the rope clamping. If the rope fastening screw is not fixed tightly enough, the cover cannot pass.
%u2022 The rope is fixed without folds, thus reducing the rope stabilisation time and the possible re-calibrations of the rope tightening.
Furthermore two sturdy pulleys has been introduced in applications where the rope is very long in order to support the rope length or to bend its route. They are designed to avoid any deformation and to allow the rope to remain in its seat also when it is energetically activated.

SAFETY CODED MAGNETIC SENSOR, SR series
Pizzato Elettrica extends its range of safety magnetic sensors by introducing the SR A series which distinguishes itself from the SR B series in the reduced dimensions.
Both series are devices studied to monitor protections and guards that, when linked to a safety module, can create a system up to safety category 4, according to EN 954-1. These products are composed by a magnetic field monitoring sensor, which is connected to the machine structure; and by a coded magnetic actuator, which has to be connected to the mobile guards. The sensor is manufactured to be activated only by the correct coded actuator and not through a common magnet.
Pizzato Elettrica safety sensors distinguish themselves by following main features:
- Insensitivity to dirt as totally sealed, making them especially proper to be used in the food-industry sector.
- Wide actuation zone, characteristic appreciated in the use of inaccurate protections or for protections that can change their mechanical characteristics through the time.
- Centering mark on the housing as a reference for the operating distances
- Possibility of connection in series more sensors also with mechanical switches.
- Actuation from two different directions.
- Available with cable or M8 integrated connector.
- Actuators with operating distance of 5mm or 8 mm.
The new sensor series complete the wide range of products that Pizzato Elettrica can offer in the machine safety field. For further information visit the web-site www.pizzato.com

The FailSafe GuardSwitch is designed as a safety interlock to be attached to a machine's guard or door. Unlike a standard reed switch interlock, the circuit has been designed to have an "open" failure mode. If the main reed sticks closed when the guard opens, the in-line fuse will blow, opening the circuit. If the watchdog reed sticks closed when the guard closes, the in-line fuse will blow, opening the circuit. The circuit will draw up to 4.5A to blow the fuse in less than 200ms. Along with being FailSafe, all the 200 series switches have non-coded actuators.

Safety switches FR series
Pizzato Elettrica switches of the FR series with separate actuator reach the 4th generation. These switches are ideal for gates, protections, carter and all different guards which protect dangerous parts of a machine. The stainless steel actuator is fixed to the mobile section of the protection in order that every time the protection is opened the actuator is pulled out of the switch. A particular mechanism assures the positive opening of the electrical contacts by the pulling out of the actuator. These switches are easy to install and can be applied to any type of protection (hinged, sliding or removable). Furthermore the possibility of operating the switch only with the specific actuator assures that the machine can start again only when the guard is closed.
Pizzato Elettrica switches of the FR series distinguish themselves for the following characteristics:
- Rotating heads: by unscrewing the fixing screw the head can be rotated in 90° steps.
- Not detachable heads: the head “93” is perfectly interchangeable and compatible with the previous head “92” but it has the advantage that it is not detachable from the body, nonetheless it can rotate in 90° steps (Pizzato Elettrica patent). Practically speaking the new head is safer because it’s not possible to damage it during the installation.
The FR series complements the range of products that Pizzato Elettrica can offer to its customers. For further information, please visit the website www.pizzato.com or ask for the relative documentation.

Hinged machinery guards and covers as well as safety fence doors may be found in every type of industry. The Bernstein safety hinge switch SHS represents the integration of a safety switch in a load-bearing hinge for industrial applications.
The slim profile of the SHS allows the hinge to be readily mounted where space is constrained.
The operating angle is a full 180°, the switching point can be set between 0° and 180°.
The SHS hinge switch opens new doors with the safety contact mounted internally, inaccessible to the user and therefore providing excellent tamper protection.
2 SHS each with a forced disconnect safety contact allow safety category 4 systems to be configured subject to the required risk analysis and safety contact monitoring.
One or more SHS may be used dependent on the category of safety protection required.
Matching hinges without safety contacts are also available, allowing the style to be standardised for general use.
Connectors as well as fixed cable versions with axial and radial (rear) mounting are available.
An IP67 protection rating is sufficient for nearly all machine environments.
|
|
Safety switches are used to detect the opening of machine guard doors, gates or panels and to prevent physical access to dangerous areas of the machine. Safety switches are designed to help deter tampering with either the internal machine controls or guards while in an unsafe condition.
All mechanical safety switches are equipped with positive opening contacts that open any normally closed contacts to assure machine shutdown when an unsafe condition is detected.
