AZM range solenoid interlocks, operating in combination with control elements of a machine, e.g. fail-safe standstill monitors or fail-safe delay timers, ensure that sliding, hinged and removable guarding devices, such as grids , hoods or doors, cannot be opened until hazardous conditions (e.g. running-down movements) have come to an end.
These solenoid interlocks are also used for cases in which the opening of a guarding device represents a non-permissible intrusion in a production process.
In combination with AES and AZR range safety monitoring modules, the AZM range solenoid interlocks achieve Control Category 3 or 4 to EN 954-1, subject to suitable circuit arrangements. Examples of circuits for solenoid interlocks are shown in the Schmersal Control Circuit and Applications Handbook.
Schmersal make both standard and AS-i Safety at Work solenoid interlocks.

Magsafe is Smartscan’s latest innovation in machine safety. An electro-magnetic interlocking system for controlling personnel access through the gates and doors set within the perimeter safety fencing or screens surrounding potentially hazardous machinery.
The key design element in Magsafe was to lock the door using magnetic force rather than by mechanical means and to remove the problems that plague existing gate locks due to liquid and dirt exposure in combination with the rigors of daily operation. This causes fatigue and leads to mechanical failure of the product. The ability to withstand harsh industrial environments such as water, dust and corrosive liquids Magsafe is the perfect solution for most guard locking applications.
In addition to this Smartscan has applied its safety light curtain technology background to the safety gate interlocking market by providing a system control unit which continuously monitors the on and off state of the magnets. This ensures the system detects when the gate is open and when it is closed. Only when the gate is closed and the magnetic locking force applied, will the control system allow machine operation.
|
|
Designed to control access to the dangerous or protected areas, this device is installed in any kind of door, gate, housing, and permits remote unlocking from a distance.
Equipped with a forced opening contact, it permits the detection when the access is closed again.

SAFETY HANDLES P-KUBE LINE
Thanks to the experience in the field of safety switches, Pizzato Elettrica introduces an innovative line of safety handles called P-KUBE.
This new line represents the answer to practical issues that the operators have with the application of safety switches on machinery guards, like the ease of installation, the precise mechanical movements of the guard, the occurrence of critical environmental conditions, the presence of inattentive staff.
Unlike other products on the market, the basic principle of this series provides that the operator can enter and exit the danger zone with simple and natural movements by avoiding the locks to bolt. Its special design and materials allow the safety handle to be used in heavy applications or with sturdy protections.
The safety handles P-KUBE line distinguishes itself by the following main features:
- Easy installation and easy functioning: to open or close the door there are only intuitive actions needed.
- Handle provided with a self-centering sturdy metal pin in order to have the alignment between the jamb and the door: this device works also as a door mechanical stop.
- Possibility to assemble it on swing and sliding doors.
- Possibility to adjust the handle on 3 different axis through slotted brackets.
- Optional Lock-out device with padlocks to avoid the unwanted or accidental closing of the protection by the insertion of the actuator in the switch.
- Compatible with switch FD series with separate actuator and switch FG series with solenoid.

IDEM has launched The Kobra 'Hygiecam' KL3-SS , the world's first Solenoid Locking Tongue Interlock Switch in a fully Stainless Steel 316 housing. The switch has a mirror polished finish and is designed to cope with the rigorous high pressure hose cleaning demands of food and beverage manufacturing industries.
The KL3-SS is a compact, slimline locking switch designed to fit to all general applications.
The housings are IP69K rated and provide guard locking for medium to heavy duty guards (up to 3000N.).
The head is rotable to provide 8 actuator entry positions and all fittings including the actuators are made from Stainless Steel 316 to provide tough mechanical and environmental durability.
The switch is released by applying power to the solenoid after the machine is stopped.
A uniquely designed mechanism means that 2 sets of positively driven contacts are provided to monitor the actuator position and the solenoid status independently.
4NC Safety and 2NO auxiliary circuits are provided plus there are 2 LED's to provide independent diagnostics for the solenoid status and the actuator lock status.

The line of mPm DIN connectors is designed to reduce the number of components making them easier to assemble and with fewer parts to stock. They provide repeatable, unsurpassed IP67 sealing performance using an external nut over the cable. Traditional Form A and B connectors require three different styles for PG07, PG09 and PG11. However the external nut accepts a wider range of cables from 4mm to 9mm, reducing the number of parts from 3 to 1. The new generation of DIN connectors is available in our complete range of field attachable sizes including Form A, B and C.
