Tanks are large, open or closed receptacles for the storage or treatment of liquids. Ultrasound tanks are designed for the cleaning and non-destructive testing of metal parts.
Tanks are used in chemical and petrochemical facilities for storing oil and gas, in water treatment plants, to store potable water or as settling tanks for waste water. The food industry uses them to store milk, fruit juice and other products.
Storage tanks for chemicals, corrosives, fertilizer and petroleum products have special linings or interior coatings. Some are equipped with agitators, heating systems and fill level sensors. Gas is stored under pressure. Potable water can be stored in membrane tanks or expansion vessels, and rainwater in runoff tanks. Hot water systems have thermal expansion tanks.
Food products are stored in sanitized tanks, generally of stainless steel. Milk storage tanks are refrigerated. Some tanks are specially designed for drying granulated products or for ripening cheese.
Ultrasonic immersion inspection tanks are used for non-destructive parts testing. Ultrasound waves striking the part reveal cracks and structural faults. The sound waves used in ultrasonic cleaning tanks are more powerful. The waves are pass through the solvent or cleaning liquid and strike the part immersed in it.
