Recoil taps differ from standard taps dimensionally, and only Recoil Screw Thread Insert (STI) taps are suitable for use with Recoil wire thread inserts.
Recoil Taps are manufactured to precise standards from either HSS or HSS-E, and available in Tpaer, Intermediate, bottoming leads, or Spiral point and Spiral Flute for machine taps.

These general purpose taps can be used by hand or under power, in through or blind holes and are suitable for tapping most materials. The chips are retained in the flutes during use.
Three-fluted taps have the greatest chip holding capacity and should be used, in the size range where available, for tapping holes deeper than 1-1/2 diameters. A variety of surface treatments are available to improve performance.

New taps from EMUGE solve special machining problems with even more economic efficiency
For the machining of Inconel and similar nickel alloys, we have developed the new tap types Rekord C-NI-TICN (through hole threads) and Rekord DF-NI-TICN (blind hole threads). The new cutting geometries and the raised tolerances (X-tolerance) will guarantee long tool life.
For the machining of MAGNESIUM, we have introduced the new tap type Rekord A-MG-GLT-1 into our catalogue programme. A special cutting geometry, in combination with the anti-friction coating GLT-1, will help to achieve enormous tool life.
The tool type Rekord A-HCUT-TICN of HSS-PM, also newly developed, will offer our customers an economically efficient alternative to solid carbide taps. These TIN-coated precision tools are intended for hard castings and hardened steels from 44 to 55 HRC.

Rolling dies exploit the plasticity of metal to form screws and serrations by rolling rather than cutting. This process maintains the integrity of the material by preventing damage to it structurally. The absense of cutting also makes this a high-speed process.
Consequently, many forms, serrations, and splines used in the manufacture of automotive parts are now made using rolling dies.
