Many areas applying extractive Gas analysis or dry basis measurement systems such as air emission testing equipment, CEM monitoring and stack test equipment, EPA method test equipment, process gas analysis and others, the sample gas needs to be ‘dried’ before it is fed into the analyser.
The sample drying is achieved by cooling the gas down below dew point. Consequently, any moisture will be condensed and removed from the system.
It depends highly on the gas composition or gas compositions and the ambient conditions, as they may vary significantly in CEM sampling, source testing or for example engine emission test, requires application specific cooling equipment. Thermoelectric chillers have their own strength and weaknesses, so have compressor chillers using a fluidic coolant.
Bühler Technologies is applying both technologies. The coolers are equipped with a cooling block in which heat exchangers are inserted. These heat exchangers are avalible in materials like stainless steel, duran glass or PVDF, with one or two individual gas paths. The temperature of the cooling block is regulated by the Bühler constant control system providing a very stable dew point even under varying ambiend conditiones. The coolers are maintenance free.
The product range includes coolers for hazardous areas (Atex Zone 1 and 2) and water cooled heat exchangers.
For condensate removal either peristaltic pumps or automatic condensate drains are available. Further accessories are available upon request; see respective data sheets for options.
As high energy efficiency is a major concern, modern calculation methods and system design is an inevitable request. |

The M&C gas coolers are used in gas analysis to lower the dew point of humid gas to avoid condensation in the analyser(s).
An extremely stable and low gas dew point avoids water vapour cross-sensitivity and volumetric errors.
Water coolers are also available. |

Accurate measurement of gases requires gas samples with stable dew points even under harsh ambient conditions. The PKE Models feature a semiconductor Peltier cooling system with an aluminum cooling block. Fitted into the block is a removable high efficient heat exchanger made of stainless steel, DURAN-glass or PVDF.
The PKE 5 is designed for moderate ambient and gas temperatures (150 l/h @ 70°C) and an inlet dew point of about 40 °C (appox. 5 Vol%). For higher ambient temperatures up to a maximum of 50 °C order the PKE 52x.
The dew point of 5 °C is regulated by an electronic controller. The temperature (in °C or °F) of the cooling block is shown on a LED-display. The status is indicated by a flashing display which shows too high or low temperature and operates together with a relay in fail-safe mode.
Condensate is removed by peristaltic pumps, automatic condensate drains or condensate vessels.

When working with or handling dangerous chemicals, human health can often be at serious risk from these hazardous substances.
The quality and design of protective clothing intended for a particular purpose will depend among other things on whether the chemical in question is in solid, liquid or gaseous form.

Unique Spiral Groove Technology
Patented John Crane spiral grooves are machined into the mating ring faces. A pressurized suitable inert gas is injected between the seals. As the shaft rotates, gas flows into the tip of the spiral groove and is compressed at the sealing dam, the ungrooved portion of the mating ring. At the sealing dam, gas is expanded. The resultant film pressure gives an opening force greater than the closing force, thus separating the faces.
The Type 2800 spiral groove continues to operate, even if barrier gas pressure is momentarily lost, maintaining the gas film between the barrier gas and the process
