MSI sensor interface IC
The MSI integrated interface IC is a multi-channel Sensor interface IC. It generates dynamically to a maximum of 3 Sensor signals by means of current- and voltage- controlled resistance bridges (among other things switch- selectable input sensitivity) and provides subse-quent evaluation systems with A/D- converted signals via digital interface.
Furthermore, the IC enables the equalization of temperature due to an on Chip integrated temperature measurement or loadable reference charts. As well it supplies connected Sensors also with power supply. The IC in particular distinguishes itself besides the on Chip integrated functionality by a high signal solution in the case of simultaneous stability as well as a low power consumption.
The IC is suitable for evaluation of differential Sensor signals, as those that are supplied by pressure Sensors, Hall Sensors and Sensors, that work according to the principle of a resistance bridge (e.g. extension bridges, Piezo or Magneto-resistive Sensors).

The Digital Output pressure sensors are based upon a proprietary surface mapping technology to produce a fully digital output that virtually eliminates all repeatable errors over temperature and pressure. This series provides a 12 bit digital serial output (14 bit in High Resolution Mode) with superior offset, span and linearity characteristics. The output is SPI and MICROWIRE/PLUS® compatible as well as fully compatible with the All Sensors GA142 Series sensors.
In addition to synchronous communications, the Digital Output pressure sensors incorporates a bi-directional, TTL level, asynchronous serial interfaces mode (hardware selectable 9,600 or 19,200 baud). This mode includes a command set that allows the host to interrogate the sensor for model information, pressure range, serial number, pressure units and conversion factor. The command set also allows the host to select a high resolution output mode, make minor adjustments to offset and has an addressable feature that allows multiple sensors to be tied to the same interface buss.
This series is intended for use with non-corrosive, non-ionic working fluids such as air, dry gases and the like. All signals are 5V TTL/CMOS compatible.

In response to market and regulatory pressures, modern power turbine manufacturers have achieved unprecedented decreases in emissions. In particular, NOx emissions have been dramatically reduced through new "lean burn" or "dry low NOx" designs. As is typically the case, these advances have come at a price. The low fuel-to-air ratios of these combustors can result in coupled acoustic and heat release pressure oscillations. Even though the magnitude of these oscillations may be low, even small fluctuations (less than 1 psi) can cause high-cycle fatigue in metal parts downstream of the combustors.
In response to this highly demanding application PCB has developed a new line of piezoelectric pressure sensors specifically suited for detecting and measuring dynamic pressure phenomena in the presence of high temperature / high static pressures. Working with both turbine OEMs and end user's the PCB high temperature pressure sensors work accurately in extreme temperature conditions (up to 1200 degrees F) in a variety of sensitivities and mounting styles.
And remember that just having a high temperature sensor is one piece of the puzzle! PCB also offers a wide range of high temperature cables and signal conditioners to complete the entire measurement chain. Whether you are looking for a 'drop in' replacement or are retrofitting an existing turbine call PCB to find out how our sensors can help.
