The centrifugal immersion pumps of building group 4 are used for wet-pit operation in containers, pits and tanks. Centrifugal immersion pumps for dry-well installation, i.e. to be installed and operated outside the container, are also available.
All components of pumps in plastic design that are in contact with the fluid are made of PP or PVDF. The pump shaft consists of a motor shaft made of stainless steel and a shaft-protecting tube of either PP or PVDF. Built-in elastomers are made of FPM (or also EPDM without surcharge). Centrifugal immersion pumps are equipped with overhang shafts so that there is no need to provide for shaft bearings in components that are in contact with the fluid. Thus, the pumps are safe to run dry and do not require regular service and maintenance.
There is no need of a mechanical sealing of the shaft. Only a so-called gas seal is installed beneath the motor to prevent aggressive vapours from penetrating the motor chamber. But this seal is never in contact with the fluid delivered.
- For aggressive and neutral liquids
- For short-term and continuous operation

SPP Pumps have been manufacturing fire pumps for over 130 years with one of the widest range of approvals of any manufacturer in the world. Experience gained from extreme environments such as off-shore oil & gas installations has led to the creation of the SPP UL Vertical In-line range of fire pumps approved for fire protection by Underwriters Laboratories and fully compliant with NFPA 20.
The SPP line of vertical in-line fire pumps are lightweight and compact for smaller pump rooms. They eliminate the need for coupling alignment and there are fewer lost or misplaced parts.

SCHMITT-Centrifugal Pumps
T and TE range: Vertical sump pumps
The impeller in this range of pumps is driven by extended, free-moving shafts. This method of construction eliminates the need for bearing and shaft sealing.
The temperature threshold of the materials used in the pumps´construction are as follows: 95°C max. for PVDF
- 80°C max. for PP
- 150°C max. for stainless steel
These models are available with a choice of electric drive motors: three-phase or single-phase and three-phase explosion protection or flameproof enclosure drives. All drives can be adapted to work off any voltage or frequency. The characteristic curves of these models have been measured using three-phase double pole 50 Hz motors, with water as a test medium, at a temperature of 20 °C.
Advantages:
- No risk of damage from fluid depletion
- The pumps in this range come equipped with a flange that allows them to be easily mounted on tanks, containers etc.
Some uses and applications:
- Exhaust filtering, gas purification in laboratories
- Sump draining
- Galvanic baths
- Large-scale bakeries

All Vanton vertical centrifugal sump pumps are specifically designed to handle corrosive, abrasive and hazardous process fluids, wastewater liquids and slurries of various pH values, and for use in those applications where no metallic or other contaminants can be tolerated. The cantilevered large diameter shaft design of SGK pumps eliminates the necessity for any immersed bearings and permits dependable operation under dry running conditions. These pumps are available in lengths to 5 feet but can accommodate deeper sumps through the use of tail pipes. Models are available with standard semi-open or closed impellers, or with recessed impellers that provide unrestricted flow so that fluids with solids or stringy materials can be pumped without impeller clogging.

Design
General
KSM low pressure, self regulating pumps consists mainly of four elements.Volute casing with stuffing box.
Impeller.
Suction Cover.
Bearing Pedestal.
Volute Casing
Casing consist of axial suction and radial discharge branch, which passes through the center line in vertical which ensures the balance of the liquid being pumped.
Stuffing Box
It is integrally cast with the volute casing and is readily accessible for the insertion of gland packing the pump can also be provided with mechanical seal.
Impeller
The impeller is of radial type with double curvaflire vanes, over hung type. The impeller is statically and dynamically balanced. with balancing holes.
Bearing Pedestal
There are basically two types of bearing pedestals which cover the ranges of pumps.Type I & Type 2. In all pedestal designs two robust deep groove ball bearing are provided for the shaft to take up radial and axial loads.
In case of heavy duties type 2 pedestal is used which has thicker shaft and larger outer diameters bearing.
