The VBN, VBN-DS line heavy duty process pumps, available in double-casing or wet pit configurations, are vertical multistage, diffuser type.
Pump components geometry, optimised through hydraulic, structural, thermal and dynamic F.E.M. analysis, lead to an high product reliability. Particularly to avoid seizures correlated to dangerous resonances, the F.E.M. dynamic analysis is carried out on all manufactured pumps taking into account the proper site operating conditions.
Closed type impeller with front and rear wear rings as well as balancing holes, to minimise the axial thrust.
Large eye single suction or double suction 1st. stage impeller to meet low NPSH requirements.
Deep stuffing boxes, designed in accordance to API 682 Std., suitable to accept any type of mechanical or packing seal.
Labyrinths and deflectors at either bearing housing to maximise protection against dirt.

Design
The ME Series of Pumps are of Mono Block Multistage type, where the pump unit is directly mounted on the Motor Shaft. The intermediate stages (diffusers) are held between suction and discharge casings with tie bolts. The number of stages and length of shaft are arranged to suit the required head and pressure. Utilizing 60 years, experience in this field we have developed Impellers fabrication from Stainless steel. They have reduced water friction and are balanced, thus increasing the performance. The stuffing box is easily accessible for replacement of gland packing. Mechanical seal types are also available.
Specification
The Discharge body, pump cover, Diffuser, Pump support and Motor body are of Gray cast Iron, shaft of steel AISI 1050, Impeller of Brass and S.S. Enclosed type two pole motor with external ventilation single phase 220/250 volts 50 Hz capacitor type and three phase 400 volts 50 Hz is properly insulated.

The impellers, diffusers and shaft of these pumps are made up of AISI stainless steel and designed to deliver best possible hydraulic efficiency.
These pumps are powered by a C.R.I. totally enclosed fan cooled, A.C induction motor, suitable for continuous duty. Motor stator is made of low watt loss steel laminations assembled under pressure and rigidly locked in the frame. Dynamically balanced rotor ensures vibration and noise free operations. Shaft is made of quality steel, precision ground of ample size for transmitting the rated Horsepower. All single-phase pumps are incorporated with thermal over load protector. These pumps require an adequate motor protection control panel.

Design
General
KSM low pressure, self regulating pumps consists mainly of four elements.Volute casing with stuffing box.
Impeller.
Suction Cover.
Bearing Pedestal.
Volute Casing
Casing consist of axial suction and radial discharge branch, which passes through the center line in vertical which ensures the balance of the liquid being pumped.
Stuffing Box
It is integrally cast with the volute casing and is readily accessible for the insertion of gland packing the pump can also be provided with mechanical seal.
Impeller
The impeller is of radial type with double curvaflire vanes, over hung type. The impeller is statically and dynamically balanced. with balancing holes.
Bearing Pedestal
There are basically two types of bearing pedestals which cover the ranges of pumps.Type I & Type 2. In all pedestal designs two robust deep groove ball bearing are provided for the shaft to take up radial and axial loads.
In case of heavy duties type 2 pedestal is used which has thicker shaft and larger outer diameters bearing.

The side channel pump is offered in six different sizes, each ranging from one to eight stages.
