Two types of capacitor can be differentiated for mains applications. X capacitors, where a breakdown of the capacitor due to lightning or switching transients would not lead to an electric shock hazard and Y capacitors, used in applications where capacitor breakdown could cause a dangerous situation.
EMC Partner capacitor test systems are used to simulate transient (impulse) and active flammability tests on both X and Y capacitor types over a wide range of values.
MIG0603CAP provides impulses up to 6kV, MIG1212CAP generates 12kV higher energy impulses and MIG1803CAP is used for active flammability testing.
Capacitor testing is performed on batches of 24 samples with all values being recorded. Capacitor test systems from EMC Partner can easily be extended to include automatic switching between samples and registration of test values.

SGDA impulse test systems can be used to generate impulse voltages simulating lightning strokes and switching surges.
The stage energy is 5 or 10 kJ. Max. charging voltage is 3MV.
Applications covered include testing according to IEC, ANSI/IEEE as well as other national standards. The basic system can be upgraded in various ways for special tests and for greater ease of operation. A number of additional circuits and components allow optimising the impulse test system for tests on different kind of high voltage test objects.
The generator is due to its unique, modular, patented structure (the D-shaped generator body also forms the enclorsure for the sphere gaps) perfectly suited for transportation and easy on-site erection. Also the internal inductance is the lowest ever built

Testing of insulation plays a great role in electrotechnics.Dielectric breakdown tests are important to the safe functioning of everything from power distribution transformers to household appliances. Impulse voltage tests are characterized by a 1.2/50us waveform. This is as industry standard.
The huge range of devices to be tested requires impulse generators from a few hundred volts(V) up to hundreds of thousands of volts(kV). The impulses have low energy content, but this can vary depending on the application.
EMC PARTNER offer a range of instruments starting from 250V up to 100kV. All units have the necessary connections and safety features relative to the test.
Many product specific standards incorporate insulation testing as part of the safety criteria.

The partial discharge measurement of electric motors and generators during the current enterprise is world-wide increasingly used. Thus isolation problems can in time be recognized and revision work be better planned.
