Wall formwork is a temporary structure used to determine the shape of a concrete wall during its construction.
Wall formwork is used during the construction of buildings. Smaller elements may be installed manually, but most require lifting gear.
Wall formwork consists of panels and various fasteners and accessories. The panels constitute a skin of wood, composite or metal, stiffened by wales. The panel can impart a particular texture to a finished concrete wall destined to remain visible. There also may be scaffolding, ladders and shoring to facilitate the concrete work.
Choice of formwork will depend on wall dimensions, required mechanical resistance and panel surface texture. Economic considerations, such as the number of times panels may be reused, are also important.
