With its compact, bearingless, maintenance-free design, the new TF Torque Flange Sensor from Magtrol brings many appealing advantages to torque measurement applications. The TF's high torsional rigidity supports direct mounting on the machine shaft or flange, avoiding the use of couplings on one side. This allows easy integration into a test system, shortens the overall length of the test bench and reduces costs.
Based on strain-gauge technology, the TF Sensor's precise telemetry system enables highly accurate signal transmission. A signal amplifier mounted in the measuring flange amplifies the measuring signal, modulates it to high frequency and transmits it inductively (via the HF transmitter) to the receiver. In the receiver, the digitized torque signal is transformed into an analog output signal of ±10 VDC. Rotational speed can be measured and converted to a TTL output signal with the optional speed pickup.

PCB® Series 5300D TORKDISC® In-line Rotary Torque Sensor Systems are designed for test applications requiring a robust rotary torque transducer where axial space is at a premium. Onboard, the transducer is a field proven electronic module that converts the torque signals into a high-speed digital representation. Once in digital form, this data is transmitted to a non-contacting pick-up loop, with no risk of noise or data corruption. A remote receiver unit converts the digital data to a high-level analog output voltage, and a serial digital output.
Series 5300D incorporates dual high level analog outputs, AC and DC coupled, providing both static and dynamic torque measurement capability that can be recorded separately and independently scaled; which is particularly beneficial when high DC levels are present or when low levels of AC content is of particular interest. Series 5300D also features industry leading DC bandwidth to 8500 Hz, resulting in increased dynamic response characteristics. The DC coupled output features an 8-pole low pass elliptical filter with user selectable frequencies for minimal roll off at each filter selection. A 2-pole Butterworth high pass filter with a wide range of user selectable cut off frequencies is included with the AC coupled output.

The digital TorqSense RWT330 and RWT340 Series use the latest and same non-contact TorqSense technology as used in the RWT310/320 Series in three different body sizes for torque ranges from 500mNm to 10,000Nm, with above 10,000Nm on request. The only difference for this Series is that it may be more appropriate for some applications to have the sensor unit separate from the electronics unit due to space and/or environmental limitations.

The strain-gauge torquemeter are used in order to measure directly the static couples of any kind of entity. They are usually produced with refined collectors sliding contacts: they can be used at a low speed for short periods. Some application are: - to test the engines, reducers, drives, etc. - output measure for any rotating machine.

Crane's stationary transducers are the quality choice for the testing of all continuous drive, impulse and hand torque tools in the workshop and production line-side environment.Stationary transducers are used off the production line in workshop or line-side test stations. Combined with joint kits that represent the production joint condition, the stationary transducers form an effective off line test for verification of assembly tool performance.

The technology for our 'TorqSense' RWT310/320 Series Torque Transducers is based on the patented technology of measuring the resonant frequency change of 'Surface Acoustic Wave' (SAW) devices in a non-contact manner when strain is applied to a shaft to which the SAWs are fixed. The applied torque causes a deformation of the quartz substrate of the SAW device, which in turn causes a change in its resonant frequency. Essentially the SAWs act as 'frequency dependent' strain gauges.
The frequency signal measuring the resonant frequency is coupled via a non-contact RF rotating couple from the shaft to a fixed pick-up and it is the analysis of the difference in resonant frequencies between the two SAW devices, with electronic processing and calibration, that gives a precise indication of the torque transmitted by the shaft. SAW devices have a high immunity to magnetic fields allowing their use in motors, for example, where other analog technologies are susceptible to electronic interference and are not suitable.
The use of this patented measurement technique results in a transducer being able to sense torque bi-directional, with fast mechanical and electrical responses. As the method is non-contact it has also complete freedom from brushes or complex electronics, which are often found in traditional torque measurement systems.

Multi-component force measurement places high demands on the measuring device. The characteristics of the force vector to be measured largely determine the result. The size and direction of the force application point, as well as the dynamics, should have as little effect as possible on the process.
With the new Kistler Type 9327, 9347, 9367 and 9377 sensors, our company's established experience and know-how is now available even for multi-component force measurements carried out by the customer. The precisely preloaded measuring elements are easy to fit and, as they come ready calibrated from the factory, they can be used immediately for multi-component force measurements.

The shockproof digital load cell is based on a capacitive measurement principle where a non-contacting ceramic sensor is mounted inside the load cell body. As the load cell contains no moving parts and the sensor is not in contact with the load cell body, the load cell tolerates shocks, torsion, and very high overloads and sideloads. Therefore, the mechanical installation of the load cell can be done without expensive and complicated mounting kits and overload protection devices.
The electrical installation of the digital load cell is pure plug-and-play as the signal from the non-contacting sensor is directly converted, compensated and calibrated by a microprocessor to a digital load cell output in grams, kilograms, or Newton. Measurements and status codes are transmitted as RS485 data on a single wire coaxial cable (RG-58) which may be up to 100 meters long.
The technology and mechanical design of the Eilersen load cells is covered worldwide by a number of patents.

FemtoTools sensors are highly precise and highly productive force sensing tools, which can measure forces down to nanonewton (10-9).
Conventional force sensors are usually based on strain gauges and can only measure forces down to milli-Newton (10-3). Our FT-S270 and FT-S540 are produced in a special manner, which is already successfully used in the IC industry, and allows to operate (work) in a unique (an unreached) force sensing range between the atomic force microscope (AFM) and conventional force sensors.
The individual calibration of the FT-S270 and the FT-S540 force sensors guarantees a high measurement accuracy and readout speed. A calibration data sheet is delivered for each individual sensor.

The forces which arise in industrial processes such a press-fit, punching or crimping often have implications for the quality of the final connection. Such forces can also be measured indirectly in terms of the strain occurring at the surface of the machine structure. This is often simpler than taking a direct force measurement, which requires the sensor to be built into the structure.
Kistler's new Type 9234A… strain transmitter with integral amplifier is fitted to the machine very simply by means of a single M6 screw. Thanks to its high sensitivity, accurate measurements are possible even with extremely rigid machine structures.
The robust transmitter is particularly suitable for use with presses and assembly line robots.

FUTEK Advanced Sensor Technologies Multi Axis Load Cell are designed to measure a multiple of forces and moments simultaneously with a single Load Cell.
Multi Axis Load Cells can accurately measure up to six components (3 forces and 3 moments) of load. For example, Independent strain gauge bridges are used to measure three directions of force: Longitude, Latitude, and Vertical, as well as, the moments about each force direction. Separate receptacles or cables are provided for each axis of measurement. A careful structural analysis has been done to isolate the forces and moments, which results in a reduction of cross-talk sensitivities.
All designs are one piece flexures, machined and gauged to give optimum output, stiffness and durability. For example, one of our more innovative designs, the Stick Shift/Gear Shift Knob Transducer offers a lightweight, robust feature comprised of Anodized Aluminum and weighing as little as 9 oz. Its special ergonomically designed cover contains anti-slip notches for proper handling coupled with less hand strain on the user.
