A composite of metal sheeting impregnated with an elastomer to yield a highly conductive, yet resilient Gasketing material for EMI/RFI shielding as well as an environmental seal. A selection of Woven aluminium wire, expanded aluminium or monel sheet impregnated with silicone, fluorosilicone or neoprene rubbers are available. Expanded Monel wire is also available without the elastomer filler for use in applications where an environmental seal is not necessary. The material can be supplied as continous sheet or as die cut gaskets to customers requirements.
ElectroNit™ is the most economical gasket for low cycling applications and is designed to offer the highest levels of attenuation. Knit construction enhances long lasting resiliency, making it an ideal material for highly sensitive components in permanent or semi-permanent enclosures where environmental sealing is not a concern.
- Highest attenuation characteristics
- Available in copper beryllium, Monel®, tin plated copper clad steel, aluminum and stainless steel
- Versatile mounting
- Consistent point-to-point contact for high shielding effectiveness over life of gasket
Elastomer core gaskets are made of a resilient rubber core,
knitted over with layers of wire mesh (the standard is two
layers). The knitted wire element provides EMI shielding
effectiveness, while the elastomer core enables the gasket
section to recover more readily, following repeated
compression. Elastomer core gaskets are used where the
application requires a conformable EMI seal and even where a
dust protection is needed.
Wire mesh gaskets are designed to offer a high level of attenuation. Their knit construction offers enhanced long lasting resiliency and is an ideal material for highly sensitive components where environmental sealing is not a concern. These gaskets are available in a variety of materials using utilizing versatile mounting options.
Metex mesh gaskets have been proven, in aerospace, avionics, automotive and electronics systems, solving the most demanding shielding and sealing problems.
Key features of the product include: high-attenuation, suitability for harsh environments and extreme temperatures, custom profiles and densities, and a wide range of materials.
By choosing the correct material, wire diameter, mesh density and mesh profile, knitted wire mesh can be used to solve an extremely wide range of shielding, gasketing, electrical grounding, vibration and filtration design applications.
