EDM machine A machine for electrical discharge machining (EDM), causing the eroding of material in the path of electrical discharges that form an arc between an electrode tool and the work piece
electric actuator An actuator (a device that achieves mechanical displacement) under remote control using electrical power as the controlling medium
electric forklift truck A small vehicle, running of rechargeable batteries, used notably in warehouses, for lifting and carrying boxes and pallets. Generally, it has an L-shaped elevator at the front, with two horizontal metal bars for supporting the goods, and lifting them
electric hoist A relatively small device, powered by electric motor, for lifting and lowering heavy objects
electric pallet truck An electric vehicle for transporting warehouse pallets, and the goods that they contain
electric screwdriver A screw driver, for tightening or loosening screws, whose shaft is turned by an electric motor
electric stacker A small vehicle, with a handle for control by an operator who walks with the truck, rather than sitting aboard it driving it, running of rechargeable batteries, used notably in warehouses, for lifting and carrying boxes and pallets
electric winch A winch, for winding in a cable, for pulling heavy loads, or lifting them up to a pulley, that is turned by an electric motor
electrical cabinet A box, usually made of painted steel and with a hinged door, for housing electrical equipment (such as fuse boxes, switches, and meters)
electrical cable A cable, containing one or more conducting wires insulated from each other and on the outside, for carrying electrical power
electrical connector An electrical coupling (permanent or temporary) between two conductors
electromagnet A magnet that only maintains its magnetic field while an electric current is flowing through a coil of insulated wire (as opposed to a permanent magnet that is made of a material that keeps its magnetism)
electromagnetic flow-meter A flow-meter, that indicates the flow of fluid (for example in a pipe), by use of the magnetic properties of the fluid
electron microscope A microscope that analyses the deflection of short wavelength electrons, instead of short wavelength light, as the means of studying the properties of the object that is under investigation
emergency stop A power switch that is normally closed, but that can be opened rapidly in an emergency. It is normally placed in a prominent, easily accessible place, and is made large and brightly colored to draw attention to its location
EMI filter A filter (usually low-pass) that removes any electromagnetic interference (EMI, notably radio or microwave) that has been picked up, or risks being leaked out, particular on any external leads for the electronic equipment
EMI gasket A custom-shaped seal (usually between a removable part and the rest of the system) that is designed for preventing the passage of electromagnetic waves, thereby causing electromagnetic interference (EMI)
encoder A sensor for determining the position (linear or angular) of a moving part, encoded as a pattern, or a series of pulses, carried on the part and read by the sensor
endoscope A flexible light pipe (or else a remote camera on the end of a flexible cable) for relaying images from deep in a network (of tubing, for example)
engraving machine A machine that melts or burns the target substance, thereby leaving a visible mark. The tool head is manipulated to trace out letters, numbers or other identification patterns
epoxy adhesive An adhesive that is made of an epoxy resin, derived from epichlorhydrin and phenol-ethane-phenol,
epoxy resin A thermosetting resin, derived from epichlorhydrin and phenol-ethane-phenol, and used for structural plastics, in surface coatings and as adhesives
extruder A machine for extruding (forcing the material out through a shaped orifice, thus yielding a rod or stream with a specifically shaped cross-section
