Description

Liquid metal cleanliness analyzer ABB’s LiMCA CM is the model for continuous aluminum quality measurement at a fixed location. The LiMCA system provides granulometric and total density information on the inclusion content of aluminum melts, in real time, based on an objective and user-independent method. It is ideally suited for applications in process development, process control, and quality assurance. The size distribution and total concentration are displayed in real time on the computer screen. The impact of furnace preparation, alloying practice, feedstock mix, settling time, and similar parameters on melt cleanliness, are easily determined. The effects of routine casting practices (metal level control, turbulence in the metal distributor) are directly observed as they take place. ABB’s LiMCA CM is the model for continuous measurement at a fixed location. Designed for robustness and reliability, the LiMCA CM can run continuously (7/24) in the harsh environment of aluminum plants and requires minimal scheduled maintenance. The LiMCA CM allows for in-line, real-time measurements. Inclusion monitoring is tracked every minute providing a detailed view of process quality at all times.
