Right-angle geared motors are always applied where the mounting conditions or technical requirements call for a right-angle position. ABM worm gears are also available in a self-locking design, in elevators, for example, offering back-up safety to braking. Worm gears and helical worm geared motors are the classic solution of right-angle drives.
They offer the user the following advantages:

economy; due to the favourable cost/performance ratio
rugged and virtually maintenance-free
extremely quiet in operation

For applications requiring high efficiency, special ABM bevel gears are also available.
