Designing and manufacturing equipment for constantly decaying 4 000 000 curies of energy contained in the source rack's 550 or so Co-60 pencils, each with a half-life of 5.27 years and containing anywhere between 7000 and 11 000 curies, is not a task for the inexperienced.
